Warriors Injury Report
Latest Warriors News
Stephen Curry : Sitting out Friday
Curry won't play Friday against the Clippers due to knee injury management, independent NBA writer Justin Russo reports. Curry will sit the first half of his team's back-to-back but should have a good chance to suit up for Saturday's clash against Phoenix. Look for Brandin Podziemski and Dennis Schroder to see extended opportunities Friday in Curry's absence.
Draymond Green : Questionable to play Friday
Green is questionable to play Friday against the Clippers due to a left low back contusion. Green is coming off a decent showing against the Lakers, where he racked up 10 rebounds, six assists and four blocks to go along with a mere shooting line of three points on 1-6 FG shooting. Back injuries can be complicated, so it wouldn't be surprising if the Warriors adopt a cautious approach with the big man. A decision on Green's status will probably be made closer to Friday's 10 p.m. ET tipoff.
Gary Payton : Out one week
Payton has been diagnosed with a mild left calf strain and will be re-evaluated in one week. Payton will be sidelined for his team's next three games and potentially longer after suffering the injury during Wednesday's matchup against the Lakers. He's been a fringe rotation player for Golden State so far this season, and his absence could open the door for the likes of Buddy Hield, Moses Moody and Brandin Podziemski to pick up a few extra minutes.
Dennis Schroder : Biggest impact since trade
Schroder closed Wednesday's 115-113 loss to the Lakers with 11 points (3-10 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, five assists and one steal in 28 minutes. Schroder hasn't been much of a game-changer for the Golden State since being traded to the Warriors but showed some promise in the loss to the Lakers on Christmas Day. Schroder cracked double digits in the scoring column while also dishing out five assists, which could be a step in the right direction for the veteran guard.
Draymond Green : Four rejections against Lakers
Green registered three points (1-6 FG, 1-5 3Pt), 10 rebounds, six assists and four blocks across 34 minutes during Wednesday's 115-113 loss to the Lakers. The four rejections were Green's best showing in the category since he racked up five blocks Oct. 30 against the Pelicans, while he reached double-digit boards for the first time since Nov. 27. The veteran big's offense remains extremely inconsistent, and he's scored only seven total points over his last three appearances, but Green's defensive contributions keep him on the radar in fantasy formats where scoring is de-emphasized.
Andrew Wiggins : Double-double in Christmas loss
Wiggins racked up 21 points (8-19 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 12 rebounds, three assists and one block in 35 minutes during Wednesday's 115-113 loss to the Lakers. It's the second double-double of the season for Wiggins, with the other coming back on Oct. 25. The veteran forward has put his rough 2023-24 campaign behind him, and over five contests since a two-game absence earlier this month due to an ankle injury, Wiggins is averaging 18.8 points, 4.4 boards, 2.8 threes, 2.4 assists, 1.0 blocks and 0.8 steals while shooting 42.4 percent (14-for-33) from long distance.
Stephen Curry : Pours in game-high 38
Curry supplied a game-high 38 points (14-24 FG, 8-15 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound and six assists across 36 minutes during Wednesday's 115-113 loss to the Lakers. A deep three-pointer from Curry with 7.1 seconds left tied the game at 113-113, but the Warriors couldn't stop Austin Reaves from driving for a game-winning layup on the next possession. Curry's eight made threes on the night tied his season high, and he's hit for 30-plus points in three of the last seven games, averaging 22.3 points, 6.7 assists, 4.6 treys, 3.4 boards and 0.9 steals over that stretch while shooting 40.5 percent (32-for-79) from beyond the arc.
Gary Payton : Will suit up
Payton (calf) is available for Wednesday's game against the Lakers. Payton and Kyle Anderson (illness) have been upgraded from questionable to available, so the Warriors will be at full strength for Christmas Day. Before sitting out Monday's game against the Pacers, Payton averaged 5.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 0.9 steals in 16.4 minutes per game over his past eight appearances.
