After another season of grueling competition, the Champions League is ready to be decided. The legendary San Siro in Milan will host the 60th finale of the contest that determines the best team in all of Europe.
Heading into this year’s campaign, Bayern Munich and Barcelona were projected as favorites to reach this point. Both of those teams were eliminated by Atletico Madrid, who are in the final for the second time in three seasons. Diego Simeone has crafted one of the best defenses in all of Europe, but his sideline antics may prevent him from playing an active role in Milan.

Atletico Madrid-Real Madrid Early Preview
Atletico make their name on defense, but the scoring of Antoine Griezmann has been the difference in this year’s run to the final. Griezmann scored the decisive goal in the semifinal over Bayern Munich, and his nine Champions League goals are most in Atletico Madrid history.
Atletico also defeated Barcelona to reach the final in 2014, but they only barley fell short of the European crown. Simeone’s club held tight with Madrid through regualtion in an intense final, but succumbed to the talent of Real Madrid in extra time.
For Real Madrid, it would be the 14th trip to a European final, more than any other club. The giants of Spain have had their fortunes reversed with Zinedine Zidane in charge, after a slump in late 2015 looked to have doomed their season.
