The Warriors Blew a 3-1 Lead: Memes & Jokes Part 2

The viral joke of “The Warriors Blew a 3-1 Lead” has returned. At least, the idea has returned even if it has not actually happened again. The internet has a good memory and has already started going back to the vault for jokes.

It’s a joke that really gained steam over the last year. Fans were spotted everywhere from wrestling events to ESPN College Gameday holding up signs with Warriors 3-1 jokes. The fact that neither of these events had anything to do with basketball made it even more funny.

The Cavs prevented the Warriors from making history as the only team to go undefeated in the NBA playoffs. Cleveland took Game 4 to force a Game 5.

Cleveland was red-hot from behind the three-point line. The Cavs shot over 53 percent from behind the arc making 24 threes. Cleveland scored the most points ever in an NBA finals quarter with 49 points in the first quarter.

Yes, Cavs fans can even purchase t-shirts looking back on the Warriors previous 3-1 lead. Can the Cavs pull off the miraculous two years in a row? The odds are stacked against them as Cleveland is facing a much different Warriors team.

Golden State now has Kevin Durant making it even more difficult for the Cavs to make another comeback. In a strange way, the Warriors blowing their 3-1 lead last season worked out. Durant signed with the Warriors last summer, but it seems likely he would have had more reservations had the Warriors just won the title.

While the Cavs played much better in Game 4, Cleveland is unlikely to be able to keep shooting over 50 percent from the three-point line. It will be interesting to see if the Cavs are able to bring this momentum with them as they head back to California.

Here’s a look at the funniest Warriors 3-1 memes.
