Latest Bengals News
Chase Brown : Looks set for No. 2 role
Brown appears primed to work as the top backup to Zack Moss following the 2024 NFL Draft, Paul Dehner of The Athletic reports. The Bengals didn't select a single running back across 10 picks in this year's draft, so even if the team brings in a handful of talented UDFAs, Brown looks like a notable winner for fantasy purposes. He flashed across 12 appearances as a rookie last season, and while Moss' experience with a large workload and on third downs may make him the favorite for the No. 1 role, Brown's short-area burst could make him an effective complementary option. If Brown can put together a solid offseason and push for increased touches, he could be an interesting late-round sleeper in 2024 drafts.
Zack Moss : Looks secure as lead back
Moss retains his position atop the Bengals' backfield depth chart following the 2024 NFL Draft, Paul Dehner of The Athletic reports. Moss inked with Cincinnati as a free agent back in March, and though the team will certainly add some UDFAs to the mix, he has to be considered a huge winner for fantasy after the Bengals opted not to spend a single draft pick on the running back position. Coming off a breakout season with the Colts, Moss looks primed for a high-volume role considering his experience between the tackles and on third downs, while Chase Brown could act as a more explosive complement out of the backfield. Both could be intriguing fantasy sleepers in 2024 drafts.
Dax Hill : Operating as cornerback in 2024
Hill is expected to be a part of the Bengals' cornerback room in 2024, Jay Morrison of ProFootballNetwork.com reports. Hill spent his sophomore campaign operating as a starting safety for the Bengals, recording 110 tackles, including 1.5 sacks, while also intercepting two passes and deflecting 11 others over 17 contests. Head coach Zac Taylor said Sunday that Hill will "be in the cornerback room" this year, which could mean a position change is in store. The team signed former Raven Geno Stone this offseason and could replace Hill at safety in 2024.
Trey Hendrickson : Cincinnati not interested in trade
The Bengals aren't interested in trading Hendrickson, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Per Ben Baby of ESPN.com, the defensive end requested a trade Wednesday, with Hendrickson's reported motivation being that he's seeking a long-term commitment from the Bengals. At present, the 29-year-old -- who finished last season with 17.5 sacks -- is signed with Cincinnati through 2025. At this stage, the team doesn't appear inclined to deal the star pass rusher, a stance that also applies to wideout Tee Higgins, who also requested a trade earlier this offseason.
Trey Hendrickson : Reportedly seeking trade
Hendrickson has requested that the Bengals trade him, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Per Schefter, Hendrickson -- who is in line to make $15 million this coming season -- is looking for more long-term security than the team has been willing to offer to this point. The 29-year-old is coming of a 2023 campaign in which he recorded 43 tackles and made a major impact as a pass rusher by racking up a career-high 17.5 sacks in 17 regular-season games.
Ja'Marr Chase : Fifth-year option picked up
The Bengals have elected to pick up Chase's fifth-year contract option. With the expected move, Chase will remain under contract with Cincinnati through the 2025 campaign. This past season, the 2021 first-rounder recorded a career-high 100 catches (on 145 targets) for 1,216 yards and seven TDs in 16 regular-season games. The 24-year-old is thus poised to remain QB Joe Burrow's top pass-catching option for the next couple of years, and in that context Chase remains a top tier fantasy option at the wide receiver position.
Logan Woodside : Back in Cincinnati
Woodside signed a one-year contract with the Bengals on Tuesday. Woodside was selected by Cincinnati in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft and will return to the team after stops with the Titans and Falcons. The Toledo product has made spot appearances in 13 games over the past four seasons, completing 4 of 7 pass attempts for 34 yards and an interception.
Jake Browning : Signs through 2025
Browning signed a two-year contract with the Bengals on Tuesday. Undrafted back in 2019, the QB spent two years on Minnesota's practice squad and then two seasons on Cincinnati's. Browning finally got his shot in 2023, winning the No. 2 QB job for the Bengals and eventually replacing an injured Joe Burrow (wrist) for the final seven and a half games of the season. Browning played surprisingly well down the stretch, with 15 total TDs (three rushing) and seven turnovers (all INTs) while leading all qualified passers in completion percentage (70.4) and ranking fifth in yards per attempt (8.0). The 28-year-old's status as an exclusive-rights free agent this offseason essentially locked him into staying with the Bengals, and the two-year deal now sets him up to be a restricted free agent after 2025. His solid performance in 2023 --combined with 2-3 more years of team contract control -- could make Browning a trade target for QB-needy teams, though there haven't been rumblings of interest this spring.
