Ebukam (Achilles) was placed on injured reserve with a designation to return. Ebukam sustained a torn Achilles' tendon during a July 28 practice. It seems very unlikely he'll be able to return this year, but the Colts are leaving the door open for the possibility he can be activated late in the season.
Ebukam sustained a torn Achilles tendon during Sunday's practice, Stephen Holder of ESPN.com reports. In the wake of his injury, Ebukam is expected to miss this coming season. The 29-year-old is coming off a 2023 campaign in which he led the Colts with a career-high 9.5 sacks in 17 regular-season contests. Per Holder, Ebukam's injury figures to lead to additional snaps for fellow defensive linemen Dayo Odeyingbo and Kwity Paye, who combined for 16.5 sacks last season.
Ebukam set a career-high with six sacks as he's on pace for the best season of his career. He started at right end and played on 38 of the defense's 60 snaps as the Colts utilize a seven-man rotation on the defensive line.
