Back with Pittsburgh

The Steelers signed Sermon to their practice squad Wednesday. The Ohio State product was dropped from the Steelers' practice squad in early December, but it now appears the team had a change of heart. Sermon has appeared in four games for Pittsburgh this season, recording 51 kick-return yards across 46 special-teams snaps.

Gets cut from practice squad

The Steelers cut Sermon from their practice squad Wednesday, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports. In a corresponding transaction, Pittsburgh signed veteran offensive tackle David Sharpe to its practice squad. Sermon could be a candidate to rejoin the organization at some point down the line, but with the Steelers healthy at running back at this point, he'd be unlikely to be brought up for action on offense anyway.

Rejoins Pittsburgh's practice squad

Sermon signed with Pittsburgh's practice squad Thursday. Sermon has bounced between Pittsburgh's practice squad and active roster throughout the season. He was released from the active roster Saturday but has found his way back onto the practice squad for the Steelers five days later.
