Ehlinger and the Broncos agreed on a one-year, $2 million contract Sunday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. Ehlinger will remain in Denver after serving as the team's No. 3 quarterback behind Bo Nix (ankle) and Jarrett Stidham in 2025, ultimately never appearing in a contest. The 27-year-old likely will operate in a similar role next year with both Nix and Stidham still under contract.
Ehlinger didn't appear in any games during the 2025 season. Ehlinger operated as the Broncos' emergency third quarterback behind starter Bo Nix and Jarrett Stidham for much of the season, as the fifth-year quarterback bounced back and forth between Denver's practice squad and active roster several times in 2025. The 27-year-old Texas product is set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, perhaps finding a home with a team in need of quarterback depth if the Broncos don't choose to extend an offer ahead of the 2026 campaign.
Ehlinger (coach's decision) is inactive but will serve as the Broncos' emergency third quarterback during Saturday's divisional-round matchup against the Bills, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports. Ehlinger will once again serve as the team's emergency quarterback after being signed to the active roster from the practice squad earlier this month. The 27-year-old will be able to enter the game only if both Bo Nix and Jarrett Stidham are forced to exit due to injury, illness or ejection.
