Payton (calf) tallied seven points (3-3 FG, 1-2 FT), six rebounds and one assist across 19 minutes Wednesday in the Warriors' 116-115 win over the Timberwolves. Golden State was without Draymond Green (illness/back), Brandin Podziemski (abdomen), Jonathan Kuminga (ankle) and Kyle Anderson (hamstring) on Wednesday, but the return of Payton from a 10-game absence due to a calf strain helped restore some depth to the rotation. Payton is a versatile defensive piece for Golden State who should continue to hold down a spot on the second unit, but his minutes are likely to take a hit once the Warriors get healthier. Podziemski and Kuminga appear to be further away from returns, but Golden State could get both Green and/or Anderson back for its next game Saturday versus the Wizards.

Gary Payton : Gets 19 minutes in return
Moses Moody : Nails three triples off bench
Moody racked up 11 points (4-6 FG, 3-4 3Pt), four rebounds and one assist in 25 minutes during Wednesday's 116-115 victory over the Timberwolves. Moody is enjoying the best outside shooting of his career, converting 39.2 percent of his 3.8 three-point attempts per contest. However, this hasn't stopped his overall efficiency from taking a dip, as he is shooting just 42.8 percent from the field in 2024-25.
Buddy Hield : Strong showing off bench
Hield recorded 18 points (6-11 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 3-3 FT), one rebound, two blocks and three steals over 29 minutes off the bench during Wednesday's 116-115 victory over Minnesota. After starting the prior three games, Hield returned to the second unit but shone on the defensive end once again. He's produced five combined steals and blocks in back-to-back games, something he's done only once in his first 38 appearances this season. Hield is also beginning to find his rhythm from beyond the arc again -- he's drained multiple threes in five straight games, averaging 14.6 points, 4.0 boards, 3.2 assists, 3.0 treys and 1.8 steals over that stretch.
Gui Santos : Season-best effort on glass
Santos produced five points (2-5 FG, 1-3 3Pt), seven rebounds and three assists across 21 minutes during Wednesday's 116-115 win over the Timberwolves. The second-year forward made his first career start with Draymond Green (illness), Jonathan Kuminga (ankle) and Kyle Anderson (hamstring) all sidelined, and while Santos didn't make a significant impact, he did pull down a season high in rebounds. Green shouldn't be out long, but there should still be a substantial role for Santos in the Golden State frontcourt when he returns to the bench -- he's played more than 20 minutes in three of the last four games, averaging 7.3 points, 4.5 boards, 2.8 assists, 1.8 threes and 1.0 steals during that span while shooting 52.6 percent from the floor and 53.8 percent (7-for-13) from long distance.
Andrew Wiggins : Hits for 24 in Minnesota
Wiggins chipped in 24 points (6-16 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 10-12 FT), five rebounds, two assists and two steals in 35 minutes during Wednesday's 116-115 win over the Timberwolves. The veteran forward has looked a little more focused after missing a couple of games last week to attend to a personal matter. Wiggins has scored at least 20 points and drained multiple threes in both games since his return, something he'd done only once in seven contests prior to his absence.
Stephen Curry : Leading scorer in Wednesday’s win
Curry racked up a game-high 31 points (10-21 FG, 7-12 3Pt, 4-4 FT), one rebound, eight assists and one steal across 37 minutes during Wednesday's 116-115 victory over Minnesota. Eight of those points came in the final three minutes of the fourth quarter, as Curry fended off a comeback attempt from the Timberwolves. The two-time MVP has scored in double digits and drained multiple three-pointers in 11 straight appearances, averaging 24.8 points, 5.7 assists, 5.2 threes, 4.9 boards and 0.9 steals over that stretch while shooting 42.9 percent from beyond the arc.
Jonathan Kuminga : Sheds walking boot
Kuminga (ankle) wasn't wearing a walking boot Wednesday but remains in the middle stages of his recovery, Anthony Slater of The Athletic reports. Kuminga suffered a significant lateral right ankle sprain Jan. 4 and was set for re-evaluation three weeks after the injury. He had been wearing a walking boot since but was spotted Wednesday without it for the first time. Kuminga is still not close to returning, and the update doesn't necessarily mean he's ahead of schedule. However, it's worth noting he has been making progress in his recovery.
Buddy Hield : Coming off bench against Minnesota
Hield won't start in Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves. Even with Draymond Green out with an illness Wednesday, Hield will cede a spot in Golden State's starting lineup to Gui Santos, who's making his first career start.
