Derek Jeter's iconic 20-year career comes to a close Sunday afternoon when the Yankees take on the rival Red Sox at Fenway Park.
The game is making for a surreal scene: Sox fans who have rooted against Jeter for two decades lining up to send him off and buying Jeter-themed merchandise in the Fenway concourse.
The Sox are honoring Jeter with a pregame ceremony before the teams conclude what has been a disappointing season for both of them: The old rivals both failed to make the playoffs for the first time since 1993.
Jeter, who drove in the winning run Thursday against the Orioles in his last game at Yankee Stadium, is in the lineup hitting second as the designated hitter. It will be the Captain's 153rd career regular season or postseason game at Fenway, the most ever by a Yankee.
