The 2017 NBA Draft may not take place until June 22, but it is already shaping up to be one of the deepest classes in the past few years. It looks to be the year of the point guard with several of the top prospects playing the position. Markelle Fultz and Lonzo Ball are the early consensus players atop draft boards. Fultz and Ball will likely be fighting to be the top selection in June's draft. Fultz can develop into an elite NBA scorer while also possessing the athletic traits NBA teams covet. Ball has drawn comparisons to Jason Kidd for his court vision and ability to get teammates involved. The draft is also full of athletic forwards like Kansas' Josh Jackson, Florida State's Jonathan Isaac and Duke's Jayson Tatum. All the players listed in this mock draft are potential prospects as most players do not officially declare for the draft until after the college basketball season is over. The draft order is based on the current NBA standings at the time this was written. Heavy also factored in trades such as the Nets likely having to swap their pick with the Celtics. Boston is in the rare position of being able to compete for a potential Finals appearance while also competing for the top pick in the draft. Heavy has tried to factor in team needs in addition to who the top players project to be this summer. While the situation is fluid, the top NBA prospects are beginning to take shape for the draft.
