Foreman (neck) is participating in Thursday's practice, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports. Foreman is back on the practice field for the first time since suffering a scary neck injury Aug. 1, for which he had to be transported to a hospital via helicopter for evaluation. X-rays and CT scans showed no major damage, however, and after roughly a week of recovery time the veteran running back has been cleared to resume practicing. He'll resume competing for backfield snaps with Jerome Ford and Pierre Strong, while Nick Chubb (knee) and Nyheim Hines (knee) continue to work back from their respective ACL tears.

Back at practice Thursday
Not practicing Friday
Foreman (neck) is back with the Browns on Friday but isn't practicing, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports. The team sent Foreman to a hospital in a helicopter Thursday after a hard hit in practice left him with neck pain. X-rays and CT scans didn't show any major damage, so the running back likely will get back on the field at some point during training camp to continue competing for snaps with Jerome Ford and Pierre Strong. Fellow Browns running backs Nick Chubb (knee) and Nyheim Hines (knee) haven't yet practiced this summer after suffering ACL tears last year.
On track to be released from hospital
Foreman (neck) is expected to be released from the hospital Thursday afternoon, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports. Foreman was helicoptered to a medical facility Thursday morning after a blow to the head during practice resulted in neck pain. Subsequent X-rays and CT scans came back negative, allowing Foreman to rejoin the team Thursday afternoon/evening.
Undergoing further evaluation
Foreman was helicoptered to a medical facility Thursday morning after he sustained a direct blow to the head that resulted in neck pain during a training camp practice, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports. The Browns released a statement noting that "the (team's) athletic training staff deployed their standard emergency action procedures to immobilize Foreman. He was taken to an ambulance and is being transported via helicopter to a Medical Center in Roanoke, VA to undergo further medical evaluation. Foreman had movement in all his extremities. Updates will be provided as more information is received." Foreman, who spent last season with the Bears, signed a one-year deal with the Browns in March.
Suffers potentially serious injury
Foreman was immobilized and carted off the field after suffering an injury at practice Thursday, Daryl Ruiter of 923 The Fan reports. Foreman reportedly grabbed at his neck after going down in practice, and while he was able to move around afterward, the Browns' medical staff wisely took the cautious step of immobilizing him on a stretcher. Foreman now figures to be evaluated for potential spinal or neck issues.
Inks deal with Cleveland
The Browns and Foreman agreed to a contract Wednesday, Jordan Schultz of BleacherReport.com reports. After an injury-riddled start to his career, Foreman has carved at a role in three different backfields over the last three campaigns, averaging 54.4 rushing yards per game and racking up 12 touchdowns on the ground in 35 appearances between the Titans, Panthers and Bears. With his new team, he could get in the act early on if Nick Chubb's recovery from a serious knee injury delays his 2024 season debut, but Jerome Ford likely still would be the team's top back in that scenario.
Ruled out for Week 12
Foreman made an early exit from last Sunday's loss at Detroit due to a right ankle injury. He proceeded to be listed as a non-participant on Thursday's practice report due to ankle and shin injuries before logging back-to-back limited practices to cap Week 12 prep and being given a doubtful designation for Monday's contest. With his lack of availability confirmed, Foreman will yield complementary RB reps to Roschon Johnson and Travis Homer behind Chicago's top option Khalil Herbert.
Turns in limited practice
While the Bears held a walk-through workout Thursday for their first Week 12 practice, Foreman was estimated as a non-participant, but he was able to get back on the field in some capacity for a more traditional practice session Friday. If Foreman can maintain limited activity Saturday or upgrade to full participation, he should have a good chance at being available Monday against the Vikings. The right ankle injury knocked Foreman out early in the Bears' Week 11 loss to the Lions, enabling Khalil Herbert to pace the backfield with 16 carries in his return from a five-game stint on injured reserve. Herbert gained just 35 yards on his 16 carries, however, so he might not have done enough to separate himself from Foreman in the battle for lead ballcarrier duties. If both Foreman and Herbert are available Monday, it would be difficult to gauge which of the two might be in line for the bigger workload on the ground.
Suffers ankle injury Sunday
Not long after halftime, Foreman walked off the field slowly and promptly visited the blue medical tent, according to Bridget Condon of NFL Network. After the Bears deemed him questionable to return, Foreman was seen jogging on the sideline, seemingly testing out his injury, per Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com. With Foreman sidelined, Khalil Herbert likely will be Chicago's lead runner, but Roschon Johnson and Travis Homer also are available.
