McKitty signed a contract with the Texans on Wednesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports. McKitty was waived by Cleveland in June after spending the end of last season on the team's practice squad. The 26-year-old hasn't played in a regular-season game since 2023, when he appeared in six games with the Chargers. The fourth-year tight end faces an uphill battle to make the Texans' 53-man roster.
Cleveland waived McKitty on Thursday, Kelsey Russo of the Browns' official site reports. In a corresponding transaction, Cleveland signed rookie tight end Sal Cannella. McKitty joined Cleveland's practice squad near the end of last season before signing a futures deal to stay with the team back in January, but he'll now have to look for his next opportunity elsewhere.
