Diabate signed a contract with Tennessee on Saturday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. Diabate spent the first three seasons of his NFL career with Cleveland. He played in all 17 games last season and made six starts, but the Browns decided not to tender him after the campaign. Diabate should provide Tennessee with depth at linebacker and could see a fair amount of defensive snaps.
Diabate is an unrestricted free agent Wednesday after not being tendered by the Browns, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports. Diabate saw his defensive snaps and production decrease in 2025 due to the emergence of Carson Schwesinger, with the former operating in a rotational role while serving on special teams. Now that he's an unrestricted free agent, Diabate will look to join a team where he can earn a starting spot at inside linebacker.
Diabate recorded 49 total tackles (22 solo) and one forced fumble over 17 games in 2025. The 24-year-old from Utah saw declines in both total tackles (70 to 49) and passes defensed (three to zero) compared to his 2024 campaign. However, he played 266 fewer defensive snaps in 2025, operating in more of a reserve role due to the emergence of Carson Schwesinger. Set to become a restricted free agent this offseason, Diabate can be retained by the Browns if they choose to match any offer he receives. He's expected to draw interest from teams in need of inside linebacker help ahead of next season.
