UFC fighter Ronda Rousey is training actor Vin Diesel‘s 7-year-old daughter in judo. Diesel wants to make sure his daughter, Hania Riley Diesel, knows how to protect herself at a young age.

And Rousey thinks Hania could really have what it takes. Rousey says at a young age it’s more about having the right attitude to be a fighter even more than the skills.

1. Diesel Wants Rousey to Turn His Daughter Into a Beast

Diesel told WENN that he wants his daughter to be able to defend herself:

I’ve been thinking about this since the day I cut the umbilical cord, and because of that, I made a decision early on that I was going to do everything in my power to empower her to handle it herself. Because of her ‘auntie’ Ronda Rousey, she is now an orange belt with stripes in Judo. I’m dealing with it early. I’m creating a beast, and I want her to be able to say no means no.

Diesel is also the father to 5-year-old son Vincent and 7-month old daughter Pauline, who he named after his The Fast and The Furious co-star Paul Walker.



2. They Starred in ‘Furious 7’ Together

Diesel and Rousey starred in the 2015 action film Furious 7 together and they grew closer as friends on the set.

The Furious 7 movie is very meaningful to Diesel because he was good friends with co-star Paul Walker, before he passed away in 2013.

Rousey’s acting career, in addition to her already sucessful UFC fighting career, has actually taken off with roles in the new Entourage film and The Expendables 3.


3. Rousey Was There For Diesel When Paul Walker Died

Diesel’s co-star, Walker died in a car accident in November 2013. He was in the process of filming Furious 7 at the time.

According to Instagram, Diesel, who refers to Walker as his brother, says Rousey helped him get over his death.

Rousey said she would play video games with Diesel and, “just tried to be one of those silent supporters that are there just in case he needed anyone during that time. He really was devastated,” according to People.

Rousey knows what it’s like to lose someone close to you, her father committed suicide when she was just 8-years-old. She opens up about this experience in her auto-biography, My Fight / Your Fight.


4. Rousey Starting Fighting at a Young Age As Well

Rousey’s mouth, AnnMaria De Mars, was the first American to win the judo world championship. She is also the owner of 7 Generation Games, which makes educational and fun computer games for kids.

In Rousey’s Instagram post of her as a young fighter she wrote:

Sometimes it’s so easy to get caught up in the demands of the present … But every once in a while milestones are reached that force you to reflect…. I’m so goddamn lucky. The most crippling setbacks have taught me the most valuable lessons and put me on the path for my greatest successes. I can’t put into insta-words how much I appreciate all the love and support I’ve received on this journey… But I can say thanks a million to all 1 million of my followers – you guys totally rock and stuff 😉
