Derrick Henry is your new Heisman Trophy winner. Henry came into the evening as the favorite and edged out Christian McCaffrey.
He led the Crimson Tide to their second straight appearance in the College Football Playoff. Henry was just shy of 2,000 yards rushing and broke Herschel Walker’s record for most rushing yards in one season by an SEC player.
McCaffrey came in a close second but was not able to overtake the momentum Henry had built over the last two months. Here is a look at the final votes:
McCaffrey is one of the most dynamic playmakers in the country and has a good chance of being in the Heisman conversation in 2016. Not only is he a traditional running back, he returns kickoffs and is an integral part of the Stanford passing game.
DeShaun Watson came in third but has an opportunity to win the greatest award of all: a national championship. Watson will also be in the 2016 Heisman conversation.

ESPN Interviewed All Three Candidates
ESPN made the awards ceremony an hour and a half. The network spent the first hour interviewing each of the finalists and providing the viewer with background on all the candidates. The award winner will be announced at the end of the show.
