Yolanthe Sneijder-Cabau (born Yolanthe Cabau van Kasbergen) is married to Netherlands midfielder Wesley Sneijder. She’s an actress, model, television presenter, and philanthropist—and one of the most striking women in the world.
Here’s what you need to know about this Dutch doll.
1. She Married Wesley Sneijder After Dating Only One Year
The brevity of their courtship makes sense when considering the illicit circumstances in which it began. At the time, Cabau was dating Jan Smit, a famous Dutch pop star, and Sneijder was very recently divorced with a young son. The cheaters were caught kissing in a parking lot, and—because everyone involved was so fantastically famous—the affair became the scandal of the year in Holland. Fans are quick to forgive, however, and their fabulous wedding was a typically lavish footballer event, sparing no bells and whistles.
2. She Co-Founded A Foundation To Stop Sexual Abuse
Free A Girl was founded in 2008 by Yolanthe and three partners. Working with local groups in Brazil, Moldova, Cameroon, Cambodia, Thailand, India, Bangladesh, and the Netherlands, Free A Girl helps identify girls at risk for prostitution and removes girls from brothels or prostitution rings in which they have been forced to work. The charity works under the umbrella organization Yes We Care! and has rescued thousands of young women since its inception.
3. Cabau Was Born To The “King Of Ibiza”
Yolanthe was born in Ibiza, Spain, to an incredibly wealthy entrepreneur who owned several bars, discos, and restaurants on the party isle. Xavier Cabau was an abusive husband, however, and after going through financial difficulties became addicted to drugs. Yolanthe’s parents divorced and she and her siblings were raised in their mother’s native Netherlands. When Xavier Cabau died in 2007, he left his assets to his children. Yolanthe and Wesley inherited an Ibiza mansion where the couple spends their summers.
4. She’s A Well-Known Actress In Holland
Cabau got her first break at the ripe young age of 17, when she starred in a film called Snowfever and then landed a role in the popular Dutch soap opera ONM. At age 21, she became a television presenter on urBNN and in 2007 won the BNN network’s Best Actress award. In 2008 Cabau was offered a contract at Tros, Holland’s most popular network, and later that year won the Televizier Talent Award at the Televizier Gala.
5. The Dutch FHM Named Her The Sexiest Woman Alive
Ok, not just once, not twice, but three times the Dutch version of FHM named Cabau the sexiest woman in the Netherlands. The first time she received the title was June 2006, followed by May 2007 and September 2009. Maybe she was too busy starting a charity in 2008 to be sexy? Regardless, by 2013 Cabau was back in action being beautiful, when she became the face of fashion brand ADL’s Turkish campaign.
