Moved to reserve/PUP list
The 49ers placed Jackson on the reserve/PUP list with a knee injury Thursday, Field Yates of ESPN reports. Jackson missed the final 12 games of last season, including playoffs, due to a knee injury. Likely missing all of camp
Head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters Monday that Jackson (knee) isn't expected to return during training camp, Lindsey Pallares of the 49ers' official site reports. Jackson was moved to the active/PUP list last week after missing the final 12 games of the 49ers' 2023 campaign due to a knee issue. There's no timetable on Jackson's return, but it appears that he's definitely still hindered by his injury. Once the 23-year-old gets back on the field, he's expected to compete for a depth role on San Francisco's defensive line.
Opens camp on PUP
The 49ers placed Jackson (knee) on the active/PUP list Tuesday, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports. Jackson missed the final 12 games of last season, including the playoffs. The nature of his injury isn't exactly known, but he evidently isn't yet 100 percent. The 61st overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, Jackson should get every chance to carve out a prominent role off the edge behind Nick Bosa, Leonard Floyd and Yetur Gross-Matos this season.
