Patrick Taylor: Everything you need to know

Taylor (shoulder) is slated to re-sign with the 49ers, per his representation at Equity Sports. Taylor missed the entire 2025 campaign due to a shoulder injury suffered during the preseason, for which he require surgery, but he's presumably now fully healthy and ready for the start of offseason activities. In what will be his age-28 season, Taylor projects to provide backfield depth behind Christian McCaffrey, Jordan James and Isaac Guerendo.

Taylor will undergo season-ending surgery to repair a fracture in his shoulder, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports. Taylor suffered the injury during the 49ers' preseason game against the Raiders. He was already slated to miss the entire 2025 season after being placed on injured reserve, and the 27-year-old running back will aim to return for the 2026 campaign once he's fully recovered from the procedure.

The 49ers placed Taylor (shoulder) on injured reserve Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports. Taylor suffered a dislocated shoulder in last Saturday's preseason game against the Raiders, and he'll now miss the 2025 season unless San Francisco cuts Taylor with an injury settlement at a later date.
