It is hard to imagine college football without rankings. The sport is built around debate, arguments and conjecture as two polls stood at the center of the sport for decades. As the College Football Playoff continues, things are a little different but the weekly playoff rankings now find themselves at the center of the discussion as the committee looks to find the four best teams in the country. As the season kicks off, Heavy looks at the schools that are poised for strong seasons. Who will be the last team standing? There are plenty of candidates. Clemson returns key players from a team that was minutes away from the title a season ago. LSU has the best running back in the country in Leonard Fournette, but needs to find away to utilize all the talent on their roster. Florida State has a new man behind center, but the same talent around him. Christian McCaffrey is hoping the East Coast folks take notice of his stellar play on the West Coast. That's just a few of the teams that have the talent to make a deep run. With each team you will find some key facts listed like their current AP Poll ranking, last season's record and their latest recruiting class ranking.
