Tom began his journalism career in local newspapers. He worked for the Westport News and Fairfield Citizen-News before joining the Connecticut Post and the Hearst Connecticut group in 2011 as a breaking news reporter covering crime, politics and more. Tom joined The Register Citizen newspaper in Torrington, Connecticut, in 2013 as managing editor. While in Torrington, he also worked with the Register Citizen's sister papers, the New Haven Register and Middletown Press, as group breaking news editor. Tom became Heavy's news editor in 2015 and has written and edited thousands of articles in that role. Tom has had a hands-on role leading the coverage of major news stories that have been seen by millions of readers. Tom is a lifelong sports fan with a passion for fantasy sports.

Education

Tom graduated from Fairfield University in 2010 with a degree in English with a focus on journalism. While at Fairfield, Tom was the editor-in-chief of the university's award-winning independent student newspaper, The Fairfield Mirror. He was also the Mirror's sports editor and spent four years covering the Stags' Division One sports teams.
