She first made her professional debut in 2003, but was thrust into the international spotlight when she appeared in the 2011 U.S. Open semifinals, ranked, then, at No. 92 in the world. The current World No. 6, the highest-ranking for any German player in the WTA, is now back in the spotlight, rolling into the quarterfinals of the 2016 Australian Open on a serious of on-court momentum. After admitting to having "one leg on the plane back home," in her first-round match against Japan's Misaki Doi, Kerber is anxious to prove herself.
