Team USA won their second straight Olympic gold in the women’s gymnastics team final on Tuesday. Their blowout score of 184.897 was more than eight points above Russia, who placed 2nd. After their reigning title was announced, the girls revealed the team nickname they’d been keeping a secret since the games began in Rio: “The Final Five”. The name honors US team coordinator Martha Karolyi, who will be retiring after this summer’s games. Karolyi has another huge competition to watch before she can say goodbye, though– this afternoon’s individual all-around finals, where we will determine the best gymnast in the world. The frontrunner and projected winner by a mile is 19-year-old Simone Biles, who has taken the gymnastics world by storm since entering the scene roughly three years ago. Biles, who the Times writes is “practically uncontested”, is almost unanimously considered the best gymnast in history, and will be sure to bring her all at Thursday’s competition.
