Cook wasn't listed on Wednesday's injury report, so it remains to be seen if the running back is dealing with an injury of some sort as Sunday's game against the Commanders approaches. Thursday's looming injury report will add some clarity on that front.
Knox also missed Wednesday's practice, so the tight end -- who is taking things "one day at a time" per coach coach Sean McDermott -- will probably need to work in some capacity Friday in order to have a chance to suit up Sunday against the Commanders. If Knox ends up sidelined this weekend, fellow TE Dalton Kincaid would be in line for added opportunities Week 3.

Though he's played less than a quarter of the Bills' snaps on offense in both of the first two games and ranked behind Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis and Trent Sherfield in playing time Week 2, Harty has been consistently involved when on the field. Playing a role similar to the one the undersized Isaiah McKenzie held for Buffalo in the past, the 5-foot-6, 170-pound Harty has been targeted on seven of the 22 routes (31.8 percent) he's run and has carried the ball once on the five nonpassing downs he's played this season. Because of his size limitations, Harty's role might not be scaled up much from this level, though he would benefit if Diggs or Davis were to miss time at any point.
Knox has two more opportunities to practice ahead of Sunday's game against the Commanders, but if he's out this weekend, fellow tight end Dalton Kincaid would be in line for added opportunities. Through two contests to begin the 2023 season, Knox has caught six passes on nine targets for 35 yards and a touchdown.
The Bills have a crowded offense, and barring injury, there are five players that should hog just about all of the targets -- top wideouts Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis, running backJames Cook, and tight ends Dawson Knox and Dalton Kincaid. That leaves Shefield and the two other receivers that made the final roster -- Deonte Harty and Khalil Shakir -- getting the scraps, and so far for Sherfield there hasn't been a morsel. On the bright side, his 39 snaps outpace Harty's 28 and Shakir's 19, so Sherfield can be considered the team's No. 3 receiver for now, although he likely only has that assignment due to his elite run-blocking ability. Should Diggs or Davis go down, Shakir and Harty seem more likely to benefit.
