Neal does not have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Tyler Drake of ArizonaSports.com reports. Neal entered concussion protocol in Week 2 against the Saints. He practiced in full Friday, and his lack of a designation suggests he has passed the league's protocol. Neal should be set for a role on special teams.

Siran Neal: Breaking News
Enters concussion protocol
Neal has entered the league's concussion protocol following the 49ers' Week 2 win over the Saints, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports. Neal took a hit to the head during kickoff coverage in the first half of Sunday's game, and further tests confirmed that the 2018 fifth-rounder suffered a concussion. He will need to progress through the league's five-step concussion protocol in order to be cleared to play in the 49ers' Week 3 clash against the Cardinals on Sunday, Sept. 21.
Being checked for concussion
Neal is being evaluated for a concussion and is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Saints, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. Neal was injured on kickoff coverage in the first half and is being evaluated for a concussion. He's the only backup safety on the active roster behind Ji'Ayir Brown and Marques Sigle, but Upton Stout or Chase Lucas could rotate from the slot corner to safety if needed.
