Tatum (illness) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Magic, Taylor Snow of the Celtics' official site reports. Tatum was removed from the starting lineup and added to the injury report just minutes before Monday's tipoff due to illness. While he never joined the Celtics' bench, the team waited until halftime to officially rule him out. Al Horford, Sam Hauser and Luke Kornet should continue to see more action while Tatum is unavailable. Tatum's next chance to play will come Wednesday against Philadelphia.

Jayson Tatum : Officially ruled out
Tatum (illness) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Magic, Taylor Snow of the Celtics' official site reports.
Jayson Tatum : Removed from starting lineup
Tatum (illness) is no longer part of the starting lineup for Monday's game against Orlando but remains questionable, Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel reports. Tatum was added to the Celtics' injury report minutes before the game's scheduled tipoff and is no longer part of the starting lineup. He's yet to be ruled out, but it appears as though Tatum won't take the floor Monday. Al Horford stepped into the first unit in place of Tatum. Sam Hauser and Xavier Tillman could also see an expanded role if Tatum doesn't play.
Al Horford : Late addition to starting lineup
Horford is in the Celtics' starting lineup for Monday's game against Orlando, Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel reports. Horford will take Jayson Tatum's place in the starting five, with the later being a late addition to the injury report due to a non-COVID illness. Monday will be Horford's 19th start of the 2024-25 regular season.
Jayson Tatum : Late add to injury report
Tatum is now questionable for Monday's game against the Magic due to illness, Taylor Snow of the Celtics' official site reports. Tatum is feeling under the weather and is now at risk of missing Monday's contest. Should he be held out, Sam Hauser, Al Horford and Xavier Tillman could see more minutes.
Sam Hauser : Will play against Orlando
Hauser (back) is available to play against the Magic on Monday, Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe reports. The sharp-shooting forward has missed the last two games due to lower back spasms, but he will make his return off the bench Monday. Hauser is shooting a career-worst 37.3 percent from three-point range on 6.0 attempts per game this season.
Baylor Scheierman : Returns from G League
Boston recalled Scheierman from the G League's Maine Celtics on Monday, John Karalis of BostonSportsJournal.com reports. With Sam Hauser iffy for Monday's game in Orlando due to a back issue, Scheierman could be called upon as an emergency depth option for his perimeter shooting. In his most recent appearance for Maine on Sunday, Scheierman posted 22 points (6-16 FG, 3-12 3Pt, 4-4 FT), eight rebounds, six assists, two steals and one block in 35 minutes in a 121-104 win over the Motor City Cruise.
Sam Hauser : iffy for Monday vs. Magic
Hauser (back) is questionable for Monday's game against the Magic, Taylor Snow of the Celtics' official site reports. Hauser is in jeopardy of missing his third consecutive outing due to lower back spasms. If the 27-year-old is sidelined Monday, Jordan Walsh and Jaden Springer could see a slight uptick in playing time.
Jaylen Brown : Productive in Saturday’s win
Brown totaled 19 points (9-20 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, eight assists and one steal across 33 minutes during Saturday's 123-98 victory over the Bulls. Jayson Tatum dominated for the Celtics with 43 points, and Brown was one of only two other Boston players (along with Kristaps Porzingis) to even score in double digits. Brown saw his streak of games with at least one three-pointer snapped at 16, however. In eight December appearances, the 28-year-old wing is averaging 20.9 points, 5.5 assists, 4.9 boards, 1.8 threes and 1.4 steals.
