Jaylen Brown Latest News
Shines offensively in Game 4 win
Brown amassed 27 points (9-15 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 7-9 FT), eight rebounds and one assist in 34 minutes during Monday's 109-102 victory over Cleveland in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Brown was part of a dominant pairing alongside Jayson Tatum, leading Boston offensively en route to helping the team take a 3-1 series advantage. Brown connected on a pair of threes while ending as one of two players with 25 or more points in the victory, also finishing two rebounds shy of a double-double. Brown has turned his game up a notch over the last two games against Cleveland, posting at least 25 points and eight boards in two straight outings.
Nears 20 points in Game 2 loss
Brown posted 19 points (7-17 FG, 0-6 3pt, 5-5 FT), four rebounds and one assist over 31 minutes in Thursday's 118-94 loss to the Cavaliers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Brown struggled from deep in Thursday's contest, not connecting on a three but still ending second on the team in scoring in a near 20-point outing in a Game 2 defeat. Brown had a down game in comparison to Tuesday's 32-point showing in Game 1, and Boston will need the star forward to contribute more in order to steal a game on the road in Game 3 and break a series tie with Cleveland.
Leads Boston in scoring
Brown notched 32 points (12-18 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 4-4 FT), six rebounds, two assists and one block across 34 minutes during Tuesday's 120-95 win over the Cavaliers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Jayson Tatum had a rough shooting performance in the series opener, but Brown was there to pick him up, and the latter led the Celtics in scoring with an impressive, efficient display on the offensive end of the court. Brown has scored 20 or more points in four of his last five playoff appearances, and he'll aim to keep that streak alive in Game 2 on Thursday.
Goes for 25 points in Game 5 win
Brown finished Wednesday's 118-84 victory over Miami in Game 5 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs with 25 points (11-19 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 2-5 FT), six rebounds and two assists over 26 minutes. Brown was one of two Boston players who reached the 25-point mark Wednesday, with Derrick White being the other, but he didn't do much outside of scoring. Brown scored 20-plus points in three of the five outings in the series against the Heat, and he should continue to play a prominent role on offense in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, regardless of the opponent, especially if Kristaps Porzingis (calf) remains sidelined for a prolonged stretch.
Fills stat sheet in Game 3 win
Brown posted 22 points (11-20 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 0-1 FT), eight rebounds, three assists, one block and two steals in 33 minutes during Saturday's 104-84 victory over the Heat in Game 3 of the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs. Brown couldn't repeat the 33-point output from Game 2, but he delivered a well-rounded effort and surpassed the 20-point mark for the second consecutive contest, as he continues to play a prominent role on offense for the Celtics even when the team is at full strength. Brown should play a significant role on offense once again when these two teams meet again Monday. He's averaging 24.0 points per game in the series.
Surpasses 30 points in Game 2 loss
Brown finished with 33 points (13-23 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 3-6 FT), eight rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal over 37 minutes in Wednesday's 111-101 loss to Miami in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference first round. Brown led all players in Wednesday's contest in scoring while connecting on a team-high mark from three and hauling in a team-high-tying rebound total in a well-rounded performance in a losing effort. Brown bounced back well after posting a modest 17 points in Sunday's Game 1 win.
Ruled out for Sunday
Brown (rest) will not play Sunday against the Wizards. With the No. 1 seed locked up, it's no surprise to see the Celtics hold out their top six rotation players. In addition to Brown, the Celtics will be without Jrue Holiday, Derrick White, Jayson Tatum, Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford.
Won't play Friday
Brown (hand) has been ruled out for Friday's game versus the Hornets, Justin Turpin of WEEI.com reports. All of Boston's regular starters will sit out Friday's contest, so the Celtics' bench players will receive increased playing time. Brown's next chance to suit up is Sunday's matchup with Washington.
Iffy against Charlotte
Brown (hand) is questionable for Friday's game against the Hornets, Taylor Snow of the Celtics' official site reports. Brown continues to deal with a left hand sprain but has been available for the past three games, averaging 18.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.7 steals in 31.7 minutes per game. It's not yet clear whether he'll be available for the second half of a back-to-back set Friday, but it wouldn't be surprising to see the Celtics manage Brown's workload over the final two games of the regular season since the team has clinched the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference.
