Drew Peterson: Breaking News

Let go by Charlotte

The Hornets waived Peterson on Tuesday. Peterson has spent most of the 2025-26 season either deep on the Hornets' bench or in the G League with the Greensboro Swarm, where he has averaged 14.9 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.9 steals in 32.1 minutes per game. Peterson will hit the waiver wire and could garner interest from teams looking to add a young wing to their rotation.

Transferred to G League

Charlotte transferred Peterson to the G League's Greensboro Swarm on Monday. With some injuries in Charlotte, Peterson has been able to log some minutes at the NBA level. Through four appearances, he has averaged 13.3 minutes per game with 1.3 points and 1.8 rebounds. He shot 14.3 percent from the field in those games, however.

Returned to Swarm

Peterson was transferred to the G League's Greensboro Swarm from the NBA roster Thursday. Peterson continues to shift back and forth between the Swarm and Hornets. He saw the court for the Hornets twice this week, marking his first two NBA appearances of the season. He totaled five points, four rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in 35 minutes over this two-game stretch.
