The Chargers signed Ingold to a two-year, $7.5 million contract Sunday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports. The deal makes Ingold the NFL's highest-paid fullback and reunites him with OC Mike McDaniel, who was Ingold's head coach in Miami the previous four seasons. Ingold logged 37 percent of the offensive snaps across 17 regular-season games with the Dolphins during the 2025 campaign.
The Dolphins released Ingold on Friday. Ingold was slated to enter the final year of his three-year contract that he signed with the Dolphins in October of 2023, but the Wisconsin product will now enter free agency. He should garner interest from teams looking for a veteran blocker out of the backfield who can also contribute to the passing game from time to time.
Ingold is expected to be released by the Dolphins on Friday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. The Wisconsin product was set to enter the final season of a three-year, $12.2 million deal signed with the Dolphins in 2023, but he's since been let go. Ingold has spent time with the Raiders and Dolphins throughout his seven-year NFL career and earned a Pro Bowl selection following his 2023 season in Miami. Once the 29-year-old's release becomes official, he's expected to draw interest from teams in need of blocking and special-teams help ahead of next season.
