Latest Flames News
Martin Pospisil : Playing for Slovakia
Pospisil will join Slovakia for the 2026 IIHF World Championship in Switzerland, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports Friday. Pospisil had one goal and two assists over 22 regular-season games with the Flames in 2025-26, after playing 81 games in 2024-25. He missed the first 49 games of the season with an undisclosed injury and never got untracked all year. Pospisil will look to fill out a bottom-six role next season, as he still has two-years remaining on a three-year deal signed in July of 2025.
Devin Cooley : Joining Team USA
Cooley (illness) plans to represent Team USA at the 2026 World Championship, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 The Fan reports Friday. Cooley missed Calgary's season finale due to an illness, but he'll get in some more work before he begins his offseason. He had a 10-10-6 record, 2.69 GAA and .909 save percentage in 31 appearances in 2025-26 with the Flames, who didn't make the playoffs. The 28-year-old will be representing the United States for the first time in a World Championship.
Matvei Gridin : Delivers assist in win
Gridin notched an assist in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Kings. Gridin was able to play in the last two games of the year after missing a contest versus the Mammoth on Sunday due to an illness. All in all, the 20-year-old took a big step to being an NHL regular in 2025-26, earning 20 points, 70 shots on net and a minus-14 rating over 37 appearances. Gridin should have the inside track to make the Flames out of training camp in the fall.
Ryan Strome : Collects helper
Strome notched an assist in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Kings. Strome was out of the lineup for two of the Flames' last five games. The 32-year-old center ends the campaign with 21 points, 57 shots on net and a minus-8 rating over 52 appearances between Calgary and Anaheim. Strome is under contract for one more season and can be expected to fill a middle-six role to start 2026-27.
Matt Coronato : Nabs assist in finale
Coronato notched an assist, two shots on goal and two hits in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Kings. Coronato missed one game due to an undisclosed injury. He got on the scoresheet in 12 of his last 15 outings, totaling four goals and 11 assists in that span. The 23-year-old's playmaking touch is encouraging, especially since he was regarded for his shot when selected 13th overall in 2021. Coronato ended the campaign at 45 points, 197 shots on net and a minus-29 rating over 80 appearances.
Zach Whitecloud : Supplies pair of assists
Whitecloud notched two assists, two shots on goal, three hits, six blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Kings. Whitecloud ended the campaign with four helpers over his last six games. The 29-year-old defenseman had a total of 17 points (two goals, 15 assists) while adding 67 shots on net, 124 hits, 140 blocked shots and a minus-6 rating over 78 appearances between Calgary and Vegas. Whitecloud typically won't put up a lot of offense, but the Flames' rebuild has afforded more playing time than he's seen at any other time in his career.
Zayne Parekh : Finds twine in win
Parekh scored a goal on two shots, added three hits and went plus-2 in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Kings. Parekh ended his rookie season at four goals and five assists across 37 contests. He earned seven of his nine points over the last 14 games of the season, growing in confidence as his responsibilities increased. The 20-year-old defenseman will likely be a full-time NHL option in 2026-27, and his scoring potential will give him some fantasy upside.
Morgan Frost : Strikes on power play
Frost scored a power-play goal on two shots in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Kings. Frost cooled off late in the season, earning just two points over the last six games. The 26-year-old still held his own in a middle-six role on a low-scoring team, earning 22 goals, 43 points (16 on the power play), 140 shots on net, 59 hits, 39 blocked shots and a minus-16 rating over 82 appearances. Frost will be in a contract year in 2026-27, and any improvements the team can makes to its offense should be reflected in stronger numbers for the center.
