Jonas Siegenthaler : Recovering from injury
Siegenthaler (undisclosed) won't participate in the 2026 IIHF World Championship because of an injury, Sam Kasan of the Devils' official site reports Monday. Siegenthaler still plans on being around the Swiss team during the tournament, but he won't be an option to play due to a late-season injury. He finished the 2025-26 campaign with 16 assists, 60 shots on goal, 135 blocked shots and 92 hits across 82 appearances.
Nico Daws : Recovers after rough first period
Daws made 22 saves in a 4-0 loss to Boston on Tuesday. Daws had a rough first period. The first goal got past him with just 53 seconds ticked off the clock, and the gates opened. Daws allowed all four goals in the first frame, including two in a 2:10 span at the end of the period. He found his feet after the first intermission, but his teammates didn't show up offensively to help bail him out. Daws delivered a 15-16-8 record with a 2.84 GAA and .891 save percentage in the AHL this season, and he's at the end of his current contract. He'll likely be renewed in his current role for 2026-27, as both Jacob Markstrom and Jake Allen are inked for several years.
Nico Daws : Starting in Boston
Daws will guard the road goal against the Bruins on Tuesday, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports. Daws is coming off a 27-save effort in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win over Ottawa. He has a 2-0-0 record in two NHL appearances this season, stopping 57 of 61 shots. Boston ranks 11th in the league during the 2025-26 campaign with 3.26 goals per game.
Jack Hughes : Supplies two assists Sunday
Hughes registered two assists, one on the power play and the other shorthanded, while adding three shots on net and two PIM in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win over the Senators. Hughes has six multi-point efforts over his last nine games, totaling seven goals and 11 assists in that span. The 24-year-old is up to 77 points (23 on the power play, two shorthanded), 226 shots on net, 32 blocked shots and a plus-2 rating over 60 appearances this season. Even with time lost due to injuries, this is the second-most productive campaign in his career, and it shows he could challenge for the 100-point mark if he can stay fully healthy in 2026-27.
Connor Brown : Tallies shorthanded goal
Brown scored a shorthanded goal on two shots in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win over the Senators. Brown has chipped in consistent offense over the last month, earning seven goals and eight assists across his last 16 games. The 32-year-old's tally was his second shortie of the campaign. He's up to a total of 18 goals, 43 points, 115 shots on net, 36 blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating over 74 appearances this season. He's matched his career high in points from the 2019-20 campaign with the Senators, and he'll get one chance to set a new personal best Tuesday against the Bruins.
Dawson Mercer : Goal, assist in overtime win
Mercer scored a shorthanded goal on five shots and added an assist in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win over the Senators. Mercer set up Nico Hischier on the opening tally, and Hischier returned the favor when Mercer scored to tie the game at 3-3 in the third period. The 24-year-old Mercer has five goals and an assist over seven outings in April. He's up to 20 goals, 42 points, 156 shots on net, 47 blocked shots, 33 PIM, 32 hits and a minus-2 rating over 81 contests this season. Assuming he plays Tuesday in Boston, Mercer will complete his fifth straight campaign without missing a game to open his career.
Nico Hischier : Three points in overtime win
Hischier scored twice on five shots and added an assist in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win over the Senators. Hischier opened the scoring at 5:12 of the first period. He later set up Dawson Mercer's game-tying shorthanded goal in the third and then scored another of his own on the power play 3:18 into the extra session. Hischier had gone nine games without a goal prior to Sunday, but he had eight assists in that span. The 27-year-old center is at 28 goals, 66 points (23 on the power play), 211 shots on net, 62 blocked shots, 58 hits and a minus-6 rating over 81 appearances this season.
Nico Daws : Picks up overtime win
Daws stopped 27 of 30 shots in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win over the Senators. Daws will likely finish the regular season in the NHL because Jacob Markstrom (undisclosed) was shut down Friday due to nagging injuries. With just one more game on the schedule, it's unclear if Daws will get another chance to prove himself. The 25-year-old has earned the win in both of his NHL games in 2025-26, allowing a total of four goals on 61 shots. He's also posted a 15-16-11 record with a 2.84 GAA and an .891 save percentage over 42 appearances with AHL Utica. He is slated to be a restricted free agent in the summer, but his outlook for NHL playing time isn't great since Markstrom and Jake Allen are also under contract for next season.
