Ginn absolutely dominated through eight frames, holding the Angels without a hit while racking up a career-high 10 strikeouts. Latest Athletics News
John Ginn : Loses no-hitter in ninth, takes loss
Ginn (2-2) took the loss against the Angels on Monday, allowing two runs on two hits and one walk while striking out 10 batters over eight-plus innings. Ginn absolutely dominated through eight frames, holding the Angels without a hit while racking up a career-high 10 strikeouts. The game was tied 0-0 heading into the ninth, but the Athletics managed a run in the top of the inning to give Ginn a shot at history. In an absolutely brutal ending to a fantastic outing, Ginn gave up a leadoff single to Adam Frazier to lose the no-hitter before Zach Neto tagged him for a two-run, walk-off homer. Ginn's start will be most remembered for the way it ended, but fantasy managers who roster him should take solace in the strength of his overall performance. He not only picked up third straight quality start but also demonstrated improved swing-and-miss stuff with 14 whiffs.
Michael Stefanic : Will report to Triple-A
Stefanic was sent outright to Triple-A Las Vegas on Monday, Jason Burke of SI.com reports. Stefanic was booted from the 40-man roster Saturday, and after going unclaimed on waivers, he'll head to Triple-A. The 30-year-old appeared in two games for the A's and went 2-for-5 with one run scored during his brief time with the big-league club.
Henry Baez : Back in action
Baez (elbow) was activated from the 7-day injured list Tuesday. Baez missed the start of the 2026 campaign due to an elbow injury. He's appeared in two games since being activated, allowing seven runs on six hits and four walks while striking out eight across 4.2 innings.
Jacob Wilson : Yet to resume baseball activities
Wilson (shoulder) remains in the strengthening and stabilization portion of his rehab, Jason Burke of SI.com reports. Wilson suffered a left shoulder subluxation a little over a week ago and is still in the early stages of the rehab process. Once the Athletics are satisfied with the strengthening work Wilson has done on his shoulder, he will be cleared to resume baseball activities. There is no timetable for Wilson's return to the active roster. With Wilson sidelined, Darell Hernaiz has been filling in at shortstop.
Max Muncy : Begins swing progression
Muncy (hand) has begun a swinging progression, Jason Burke of SI.com reports. Muncy was placed on the 10-day injured list nearly three weeks ago with a fractured fifth metacarpal in his left hand, and he's finally ready to start ramping up his rehab. The young infielder will need to go out on a rehab assignment before rejoining the Athletics' active roster, and it's unclear how soon he might be ready for that. Zack Gelof has been filling in at third base in Muncy's stead.
Brooks Kriske : Shut down at least three weeks
Kriske (shoulder) will be shut down from throwing for at least three weeks, Jason Burke of SI.com reports. Kriske landed on the 15-day injured list last Wednesday with a right shoulder impingement. He will need some time to get built back up following the shutdown period, which makes it unlikely Kriske will return until July.
Justin Sterner : Works scoreless frame Sunday
Sterner threw a perfect inning with no strikeouts in Sunday's 10-1 loss to the Giants. Sterner entered in the seventh inning and retired the bottom of the Giants' lineup to keep the Athletics within one run before an eight-run, eighth-inning implosion turned the contest into a blowout. Over his past seven appearances (5.2 innings), the right-hander has allowed one run on three hits and a walk while striking out four. Overall, Sterner owns a 4.03 ERA and 1.34 WHIP with a 23:7 K:BB across 22.1 frames in 2026.
Denzel Clarke : Logs three hits in rehab game
Clarke (foot) started at designated hitter and went 3-for-3 with a solo homer and an additional run scored with Single-A Stockton on Sunday. Clarke has been on the injured list since April 22 due to a deep bone bruise in his right foot. After starting in center field and tallying one hit in his first rehab appearance Saturday, the 26-year-old recorded a hit in all three of his at-bats as the designated hitter Sunday, including a solo homer in the fourth inning before exiting the contest. With the weekend in Stockton complete, Clarke's rehab assignment will likely shift to Triple-A Las Vegas, as previously reported by Martin Gallegos of MLB.com.
