Muncy (hand) is still being held out of all baseball activities and has no timetable for a return, MLB.com reports. Muncy landed on the injured list April 28 with a fractured fifth metacarpal in his left hand, an injury that originally stemmed from a hit-by-pitch April 13 against the Rangers. The early expectation was that his stay on the injured list would extend beyond the 10-day minimum, and that has proven to be the case. Additionally, a lack of any progression toward baseball activities suggests the young infielder is not especially close to returning to game action. Zack Gelof has recently seized regular opportunities at the hot corner in Muncy's absence.

Latest Athletics News
Max Muncy : Still yet to resume baseball work
Muncy (hand) is still being held out of all baseball activities and has no timetable for a return, MLB.com reports.
Denzel Clarke : Continuing baseball activities
Clarke (foot) is continuing baseball activities and has progressed to on-field batting practice and outfield drills, MLB.com reports. Clarke has been shelved on the injured list since April 22 with a deep bone bruise in his right foot and has slowly been progressing in rehab. These latest developments are a step in the right direction toward a return, though there remains no timetable for the 26-year-old to resume game action. He'll also likely require a rehab assignment before being activated to the 26-man roster.
Shea Langeliers : Powers offense in loss
Langeliers went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a two-run double in Tuesday's 6-4 loss to the Cardinals. Langeliers is up to 12 homers on the season, including four over seven contests in May. The catcher has added 10 RBI this month as he continues to be the engine of the Athletics' offense. He's now batting .340 with a 1.037 OPS, 25 RBI, 29 runs scored and 10 doubles through 37 contests. He broke out with an .861 OPS in his 31-homer effort over 123 games last year, and he looks to have found another level in 2026.
Jeffrey Springs : Struggles early in loss
Springs (3-3) allowed four runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out five over five innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Cardinals. Springs was blitzed as the Cardinals rallied for four runs in the first inning. The Athletics got three back in the next frame, but they never pulled even, leaving Springs to take the loss even after he settled in to avoid further damage. He's gone five starts without a win, allowing 19 runs over 24.1 innings in that span. For the season, he's at a 4.22 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 44:15 K:BB through 49 innings over nine starts. The southpaw's next outing is projected to be a favorable home matchup versus the Giants over the weekend.
Brooks Kriske : Managing shoulder soreness
Kriske was removed from Tuesday's game against the Cardinals with right shoulder soreness, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. Kriske pitched 1.2 shutout innings during his appearance Tuesday, but his shoulder forced him out of the game midway through the eighth. It's unknown whether he'll spend time on the injured list, but he'll likely be unavailable out of the bullpen for at least a game or two to allow the soreness to subside.
Eduarniel Nunez : Scrubbed from 40-man roster
The Athletics designated Nunez for assignment Tuesday. Acquired from the Padres in the Mason Miller trade, Nunez posted a 7.11 ERA and 11:11 K:BB over 12.2 innings between Padres and Athletics last season. He's split the 2026 season between Double-A Midland and Triple-A Las Vegas, holding a 4.61 ERA and 17:11 K:BB over 13.2 frames. Nunez has poor control, but he's got a big arm and several years of team control, so there's sure to be interest in him via waivers.
Michael Stefanic : Contract selected
The Athletics selected Stefanic's contract from Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday. The 30-year-old will get a look in the big leagues with the A's after signing as a non-roster invitee in December and failing to make the Opening Day roster. Stefanic's .250/.351/.355 slash line in 149 plate appearances at Triple-A this year is underwhelming, though he does have a 17:16 BB:K. He'll provide the club with some infield depth as Jacob Wilson (shoulder) heads to the injured list.
Brett Harris : Optioned to Triple-A
The Athletics optioned Harris to Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday. Harris was in the majors for a couple weeks but hardly played, going hitless in six plate appearances. Michael Stefanic is taking his spot on the active roster.
