Colton scored a goal in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Golden Knights in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals. Colton opened the scoring at 16:59 of the first period, but he was the only Avalanche skater to solve Carter Hart. With two goals and three assists over his last seven games, Colton has done well to keep his place in the lineup after starting the postseason as a healthy scratch. That stretch accounts for all of his offense in nine playoff outings, to go with 18 shots on net, 32 hits and an even plus-minus rating. He continues to fill a bottom-six role.

Ross Colton : Nets lone goal in loss
Colton scored a goal in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Golden Knights in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals. Colton opened the scoring at 16:59 of the first period, but he was the only Avalanche skater to solve Carter Hart. With two goals and three assists over his last seven games, Colton has done well to keep his place in the lineup after starting the postseason as a healthy scratch. That stretch accounts for all of his offense in nine playoff outings, to go with 18 shots on net, 32 hits and an even plus-minus rating. He continues to fill a bottom-six role.
Scott Wedgewood : Comes up short again in Game 2
Wedgewood allowed two goals on 24 shots in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Golden Knights in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals. The third goal was an empty-netter. Wedgewood was unable to get a 1-0 lead across the finish line in the third period. He allowed the two goals in a span of 2:07 in the middle of the frame, and the Avalanche's offense couldn't bail him out. Prior to this series, Wedgewood hadn't lost consecutive games in regulation since Jan. 4-6. He's stopped 46 of 51 shots against Vegas so far. It's unclear if head coach Jared Bednar is planning on a goaltending change for Game 3 in Vegas on Sunday, but Wedgewood has been decent despite the results going against him.
Cale Makar : Ruled out for Game 2
Makar (undisclosed) will not be in action to face the Golden Knights in Game 2 on Friday, Eric Francis of Sportsnet reports. Makar skated with the No. 1 power-play unit at Friday's morning skate, but it seems the 27-year-old blueliner still isn't ready to suit up. In the absence of Makar, Devon Toews figures to take on an increased role, including with the man advantage, and should be a player to target in daily formats. For his part, once Makar is cleared, he figures to return to being a 25-plus minute-a-night player.
Alex Gagne : Recalled from minors
Gagne was called up from AHL Colorado on Friday, Evan Rawal of the Denver Gazette reports. Gagne has been moving up and down between levels of late, providing emergency defensive depth while Cale Makar (undisclosed) has been sidelined. Even if Makar can't play in Game 2 on Friday, the 23-year-old Gagne shouldn't expect to get into the lineup.
Scott Wedgewood : Set to start Game 2
Wedgewood is expected to guard the cage at home against Vegas in Game 2 on Friday, Jesse Montano of Guerilla Sports reports. Wedgewood will get the nod despite giving up three goals on 27 shots (.889 save percentage) in a Game 1 defeat to the Golden Knights. In the postseason, the 33-year-old backstop is 7-2 with a 2.32 GAA and .911 save percentage in nine outings. Even with the club giving Wedgewood the start, he figures to be on a short leash; another tough outing could give Mackenzie Blackwood another opportunity.
Valeri Nichushkin : Finds twine in Game 1 loss
Nichushkin scored a goal on three shots and added three hits in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Golden Knights in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. Nichushkin got the Avalanche on the board at 5:53 of the third period, but their comeback effort came up short. The 31-year-old winger was dropped to the third line to begin this series after going scoreless in the last three games of the second round. In this postseason, he's earned two goals, two assists, 15 shots on net, 14 hits and a plus-3 rating over 10 appearances.
Gabriel Landeskog : Strikes on power play in loss
Landeskog scored a power-play goal on three shots in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Golden Knights in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. Landeskog netted his fourth goal of the postseason to make things interesting late in the third period. The Avalanche weren't able to tie the game despite the captain's effort. Landeskog is up to nine points, 26 shots on net, 34 hits, 12 PIM and a plus-4 rating over 10 playoff contests. He should continue to operate in a top-six role and on the power play.
Scott Wedgewood : Loses Game 1 of WCF
Wedgewood stopped 24 of 27 shots in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Golden Knights in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. The fourth goal was an empty-netter. Wedgewood didn't get enough support early on while keeping Vegas off the board for the first 32-plus minutes until Dylan Coghlan scored at 12:29 of the second period. This was just the second loss in nine outings this postseason for Wedgewood, and it's the third time he's allowed more than two goals. The absence of Cale Makar (undisclosed) looms large, but the Avalanche's defense still did fairly well despite the loss. Game 2 is Friday, but head coach Jared Bednar has yet to reveal his starting goalie for that contest.
