Povich is slated to start Thursday's game against the Marlins in Miami, Andy Kostka of TheBanner.com reports. With Trevor Rogers (illness) hitting the injured list, the Orioles summoned Povich from Triple-A Norfolk last Friday to fill the opening in the rotation. Povich stumbled in a tough matchup with the Yankees on the road, striking out four batters over four innings but yielding five earned runs on seven hits and two walks en route to taking a loss. The lefty will get a more favorable draw for his upcoming turn through the rotation, but given that he maintains a 5.14 ERA and 1.45 WHIP over 208.1 career innings in the majors, he won't be a comfortable lineup option for fantasy managers looking to protect their ratios.

Latest Orioles News
Cade Povich : Sticks in rotation for another turn
Shane Baz : Knocked around in third loss
Baz (1-3) took the loss Monday against the Yankees, allowing six runs (five earned) on five hits and five walks in 5.2 innings. He struck out four. The 26-year-old right-hander struggled across the board in a tough matchup Monday. Baz gave up a season-high five earned runs, issued a season-worst five free passes and matched his lowest output in strikeouts of the campaign. Although Baz has tossed at least five frames in each of his first seven starts, he'll bring a rocky 4.99 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 33:16 K:BB over 39.2 innings into his next scheduled outing against the Athletics.
Albert Suárez : Accepts assignment to Triple-A
Suarez cleared waivers Monday and was assigned outright by the Orioles to Triple-A Norfolk, Cordell Woodland of 105.7 The Fan Baltimore reports. Suarez was DFA'd by the Orioles on Saturday, and after not being claimed off waivers by another team, he will opt to stay with the organization in the minors. It's the second time in as many weeks that Suarez has been booted from Baltimore's 40-man roster, but he could see some action with the big club this season. Across six major-league outings this season, Suarez has a 3.45 ERA, 1.28 wHIP, one save and a 9:9 K:BB in 15.2 innings.
Heston Kjerstad : Seeking clearance for rehab games
The Orioles announced Monday that Kjerstad (hamstring) will be re-evaluated soon to determine his readiness for a rehab assignment, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports. Kjerstad hasn't played in a game since he strained his right hamstring back on March 19, but he's finally closing in on a rehab assignment. Andy Kostka of TheBanner.com notes that the 27-year-old could begin an assignment over the weekend with Double-A Chesapeake if all goes according to plan during the week. Kjerstad is a good bet to remain in the minors once he's activated rather than being added to the Orioles' 26-man active roster.
Ryan Helsley : Could resume throwing this week
Helsley (elbow) could be cleared to resume a throwing program later this week, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports. Helsley was placed on the 15-day injured list this past Friday with right elbow inflammation. Imaging on the closer's elbow came back clean, and he might be ready to throw in a few days after being re-evaluated. Rico Garcia is the top candidate for saves in the Orioles bullpen while Helsely is out, though Yennier Cano, Andrew Kittredge and Anthony Nunez could also be in the mix.
Jordan Westburg : Shut down from throwing
Westburg has been shut down from throwing after feeling discomfort in his right elbow, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. Westburg has been sidelined by a partial UCL tear in his right elbow since mid-February. He was steadily progressing through his recovery, including swinging a bat and a throwing program, but he has recently hit a setback and will be shut down until he's reevaluated by the Orioles' medical staff. Westburg is eligible to be activated from the 60-day injured list in late May, but he may need a longer stint on the IL depending on how his elbow responds over the coming days.
Trey Gibson : Sent down after spot start
The Orioles optioned Gibson to Triple-A Norfolk on Monday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. Gibson made his major-league debut with a spot start Sunday against the Yankees, getting charged with three runs on four hits and two walks over 4.2 innings while notching a pair of strikeouts. The right-hander's spot on the active roster will be absorbed by Lou Trivino.
Lou Trivino : Agrees to majors deal with Orioles
The Orioles signed Trivino to a one-year contract Monday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. Trivino recently opted out of his minor-league contract with the Phillies when he didn't receive a promotion despite a 2.77 ERA and 20:4 K:BB over 13 innings at Triple-A Lehigh Valley. The Orioles were willing to give him the major-league deal he sought, and Trivino will provide Baltimore with an experienced middle reliever.
