Urias is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees. The Yankees are throwing southpaw Nestor Cortes, but the right-handed hitting Urias will begin this one on the bench. Jordan Westburg is at third base and Jorge Mateo will handle second base.
Coulombe worked a scoreless ninth inning Monday to record his first save of the season in a 2-0 win over the Yankees. With Craig Kimbrel (back) sidelined, Yennier Cano remained in his high-leverage role and retired Aaron Judge as the final out of the seventh inning before taking care of Anthony Rizzo, Giancarlo Stanton and Austin Wells in the eighth. After Cano gave up a single to begin the ninth, however, Coulombe was brought in to handle the bottom of New York's order and needed only 12 pitches (nine strikes) to get the job done. Kimbrel may not be unavailable for long, but if he does wind up on the injured list, Coulombe could factor more heavily into the endgame mix for manager Brandon Hyde than expected. The southpaw has pitched well to begin the season, posting a 3.18 ERA, 0.62 WHIP and 14:2 K:BB through 11.1 innings.
Henderson went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Monday's 2-0 win over the Yankees. The 22-year-old shortstop gave Grayson Rodriguez and the Orioles bullpen all the offense they would need when he took Clarke Schmidt deep in the first inning. Henderson has gone yard four times in the last six games, giving him 10 homers on the season -- tied with Mike Trout for the MLB lead. Henderson sports a .289/.352/.632 slash line with six steals, 23 RBI and 25 runs through 28 contests.
Rodriguez (4-1) picked up the win Monday, allowing five hits and three walks over 5.2 scoreless innings in a 2-0 victory over the Yankees. He struck out three. While the 24-year-old right-hander recorded his lowest strikeout total of the season so far, Rodriguez kept New York from pushing across a run despite having runners in scoring position in three of the six innings in which he worked. He tossed 54 of 101 pitches for strikes before exiting, coming up just short of his fourth quality start of the year, and he gave up two runs or fewer for the fifth time in six trips to the mound. Rodriguez will take a 3.71 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 37:12 K:BB through 34 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road this weekend in Cincinnati.
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said Monday that Hays (calf) is showing improvement, but the outfielder has yet to take part in much physical activity since landing on the 10-day injured list April 22, Danielle Allentuck of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports. Hays is eligible for activation later this week, but he doesn't appear to have made enough progress at this point in his recovery from the left calf strain for his return to be viewed as imminent. Prior to being shelved with the injury, Hays hit just .111 over 45 at-bats on the season and had ceded his spot in the everyday lineup to rookie Colton Cowser.
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde confirmed Monday that Means (forearm) will be activated from the 15-day injured list later this week and will rejoin the rotation, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports. Hyde didn't divulge which day Means will pitch, but he would be on regular rest for Friday's series opener in Cincinnati. Means saved his best rehab start for last, as he struck out eight while allowing just one hit and one walk over seven scoreless innings for Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday. The left-hander got his pitch count up to 95 in the outing, so he should be ready for a typical workload in his first start with the Orioles. With both Means and Kyle Bradish (elbow) set to return from the IL this week, Albert Suarez and Cole Irvin would appear most at risk of losing out on starting roles if the Orioles elect to maintain a five-man rotation.
