Latest Canucks News
Ilya Safonov : Inks one-year deal
Safonov signed a one-year, two-way contract worth $950,000 at the NHL level with the Canucks on Tuesday. Safonov was a sixth-round pick of the Blackhawks in 2021, and his rights were dealt to the Canucks in June of 2025. He has played in the KHL with Ak Bars Kazan on a full-time basis over the last four years, and he had his second-best campaign with 16 goals and 33 points over 68 regular-season outings last year. Safonov will likely have a chance to compete for NHL minutes in training camp, though he doesn't look to have significant scoring upside.
Nils Hoglander : Dealing with undisclosed injury
Hoglander will not compete at the 2026 IIHF World Championship due to an undisclosed injury, Sweden announced Wednesday. Hoglander was limited to just 38 regular-season games for the Canucks this year due to a lower-body injury and now finds himself sidelined for the international competition. If the 25-year-old winger can stay healthy, he should be capable of pushing for the 20-goal and 40-point thresholds next year, though that's becoming an increasingly big question mark.
Ty Mueller : Nets lone goal in loss
Mueller scored a goal and blocked two shots in Thursday's 6-1 loss to the Oilers. Mueller's goal was his first point in six games since his April 1 call-up. The 23-year-old added two shots on net, five hits, four blocked shots and two PIM while seeing bottom-six minutes. It was a decent audition for Mueller, who also produced 35 points in 59 AHL outings prior to his call-up. He could compete for a bottom-six job in training camp in the fall.
Kevin Lankinen : Ends season with woeful showing
Lankinen stopped 29 of 35 shots in Thursday's 6-1 loss to the Oilers. The season couldn't have ended in any other way for Lankinen, who allowed four goals -- including a hat trick to Matt Savoie -- in the first period alone. The 30-year-old netminder ends a disappointing 2025-26 season having won three of his last four starts, but that shouldn't hide the fact that the Canucks were a disaster defensively throughout the campaign. Lankinen went 11-27-5 with a 3.70 GAA and an .875 save percentage across 47 regular-season appearances in 2025-26. Both the GAA and save percentage were career-worst marks for the 30-year-old netminder.
Kevin Lankinen : In goal against Oilers
Lankinen will get the starting nod on the road versus Edmonton on Thursday, Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet 650 reports. Despite allowing three or more goals in each of his last three outings, Lankinen finds himself entering the season finale on a three-game winning streak. While the Finnish backstop has had some recent success, it's been a disappointing year overall, as he is sporting a career-worst 3.65 GAA and managed just 11 wins in 46 appearances.
Elias Pettersson : Records two assists in overtime win
Pettersson registered two assists and a plus-2 rating in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Kings. Pettersson's goal drought is up to 14 games, but he has earned 11 assists with a minus-10 rating, 25 shots on net and 14 blocked shots in that span. The 27-year-old center came up big with helpers on Zeev Buium's tying goal in the second period and Jake DeBrusk's game-winner in overtime. Pettersson crossed the 50-point mark with the effort -- he's at 15 goals, 36 assists, 132 shots on net, 108 blocked shots, 65 hits and a minus-29 rating across 73 appearances.
Elias Pettersson : Lights lamp in overtime win
Pettersson scored a goal and added four hits in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Kings. Pettersson ended an 11-game point drought with a tally at 9:21 of the first period. He's gotten a chance to play regularly in a bottom-four role lately, but there are still plenty of things for him to work on. The 22-year-old defenseman is at three goals, 10 points, 45 shots on net, 134 hits, 83 blocked shots, 32 PIM and a minus-14 rating through 69 appearances this season.
Zeev Buium : Buries goal Tuesday
Buium scored a goal on two shots and blocked two shots in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Kings. Buium tallied for the first time since Jan. 23 versus the Devils. In that 24-game drought, he picked up five assists with a minus-17 rating, 23 shots on net, 20 blocked shots and 23 PIM. Buium has seen steady top-four minutes lately, as the Canucks have had nothing to lose by testing him in a big role. Through 75 appearances between Vancouver and Minnesota, the 20-year-old blueliner has six goals, 26 points (13 on the power play), 73 shots on net, 52 blocks, 37 PIM and a minus-33 rating.
