Malkin agreed to terms on a one-year, $5.5 million contract with Pittsburgh on Tuesday. Malkin will be back for another year after inking a fresh one-year contract ahead of free agency opening July 1. The veteran center returns following a bounce-back year in which he generated 19 goals and 42 assists in 56 regular-season tilts. His potential for a regression year, especially considering he'll be 40 before the start of the 2026-27 campaign, will make him a risky option in season-long formats.

Evgeni Malkin : Signs one-year deal
Malkin agreed to terms on a one-year, $5.5 million contract with Pittsburgh on Tuesday. Malkin will be back for another year after inking a fresh one-year contract ahead of free agency opening July 1. The veteran center returns following a bounce-back year in which he generated 19 goals and 42 assists in 56 regular-season tilts. His potential for a regression year, especially considering he'll be 40 before the start of the 2026-27 campaign, will make him a risky option in season-long formats.
Ilya Solovyov : Inks one-year extension
Solovyov signed a one-year, $850,000 contract extension with Pittsburgh on Thursday. After Solovyov was acquired by the Penguins in a trade with Colorado, he logged 14 regular-season games for the club in which he notched five assists, 16 hits and 14 blocks while averaging 14:06 of ice time. It's a low-risk deal for the Penguins, one that figures to primarily bolster their defensive depth, with Solovoyv unlikely to be a regular on the blue line for the club this upcoming season.
Connor Dewar : Secures two-year extension
Dewar agreed to terms on a two-year, $4.5 million contract extension with Pittsburgh on Thursday. Dewar -- who was set to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason -- is coming off a career year in which he set new personal bests in goals (14), assists (16) and shots (110) in 78 regular-season contests. While the offensive production was no doubt a bonus for the club, he was also their top penalty killer in 2025-26, logging a team-high 209:23 of shorthanded ice time.
Arturs Silovs : Heartbreaking OT loss in Game 6
Silovs made 31 saves Wednesday in the Penguins' 1-0 overtime loss to the Flyers in Game 6 of their first-round series. The 25-year-old netminder did everything he could to force a Game 7 and keep Pittsburgh's campaign alive, but Cam York snapped a shot through traffic that glanced off the post and into the net with about two and a half minutes left in the first extra period, ending Silovs' goaltending duel with Dan Vladar. Silovs had an up-and-down regular season, but he shone after replacing Stuart Skinner between the pipes in the playoffs, allowing five goals on 82 shots (.939 save percentage) over three starts. Both goalies are free agents this offseason -- Skinner unrestricted and Silovs an RFA -- but with prospect Sergei Murashov potentially ready to make the leap to the NHL on a full-time basis in 2026-27, it's not clear if either veteran will be back in Pittsburgh next season.
Joel Blomqvist : Called up Wednesday
Blomqvist was recalled from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Wednesday, Seth Rorabaugh of Tribune-Review Sports reports. Blomqvist will serve as the Penguins' No. 3 option in Game 6 on Wednesday. As such, the 24-year-old backstop shouldn't be expected to actually get into the game. Looking ahead to 2026-27, Blomqvist will need a strong training camp to earn a spot on the NHL roster for Opening Night.
Arturs Silovs : Between pipes for Game 6
Silovs will tend the twine on the road against the Flyers in Game 6 on Wednesday, Sportsnet's Dan Potash reports. Silovs has given up four goals on 50 shots (.920 save percentage) in two wins this postseason. The 25-year-old has become the No. 1 option between the pipes for head coach Dan Muse after Stuart Skinner went 0-3 in the first three games of the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Skinner surrendered nine goals on 71 shots.
Ryan Shea : Earns first playoff point
Shea logged an assist and two blocked shots in Monday's 3-2 win over the Flyers in Game 5. The helper was Shea's first point in five playoff games, and he's added three shots on net, three hits and seven blocked shots. This is his first year in the postseason as an NHL player. He had a breakout year with six goals, 35 points, 92 blocked shots, 72 shots on net and a plus-30 rating over 80 regular-season appearances.
Elmer Soderblom : Buries goal in win
Soderblom scored a goal on two shots and added three hits in Monday's 3-2 win over the Flyers in Game 5. Soderblom is getting his first taste of playoff action in the NHL, and he's doing so in a bottom-six role. The goal was his first point in four appearances in this first-round series. The 24-year-old has added nine shots on net, 10 hits and an even plus-minus rating. Soderblom split the regular season between Pittsburgh and Detroit, totaling seven goals, 13 points, 69 shots on net and 99 hits across 59 games.
