1. Maria Grew Up In Moscow
Egee was born in Moscow on January 4, 1988 to her father Konstantin Anisimov and mother Olga Anisimova.
They remained there until 1998, when Moscow was in a financial crisis. Maria was 10 years old at the time. They left to pursue a better future for Maria, according to the New York Times. They ended up settling in Colts Neck, N.J.
Amanda was born in 2001; Maria and her have a 13 year age gap. So Amanda was born in New Jersey and never lived in Russia.
But Maria, on the other hand, spent a good chunk of her childhood in Moscow.
2. She Played College Tennis at the University of Pennsylvania
Maria was also a tennis player. She attended UPenn to play collegiate tennis and was an elite doubles player.
During her freshman season in 2006-07, she was a part of the first pair in UPenn history to qualify for the NCAA championships, with Ekaterina Kominskaya.
They finished the season ranked the No. 46 pair in the country and upset the No. 35 pair, from LSU, in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
Unfortunately, the end of Egee’s tennis career was derailed by injury; she sat out the entirety of her final season in 2009-10 due to injury.
But still, her tennis career is nothing to scoff at. She accomplished more than most tennis players and that is certainly worth commending.
3. Her Husband, Kevin Egee, Was A Basketball Player at UPenn
Maria and Kevin Egee, who were married on February 27, 2016, are apparently college sweethearts.
They were both at UPenn from 2006-2009, with Kevin starting his college days one year earlier in 2005 and Maria ending hers one year later in 2010. Maria was an economics major while Kevin studied sociology.
While at UPenn, Kevin was also a star basketball player. During his senior season in 2008-09, Kevin averaged 7.5 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.
As it turned out, the great UPenn athletes made a great couple, too!
4. Maria Works in Finance
As of July 12, 2025, Maria is a Portfolio manager at Loop Capital, according to her LinkedIn.
She just started at Loop Capital in January 2025. Previously, Maria worked at Bank of America Merrill Lynch for nearly seven years.
She also worked at Goldman Sachs for over seven years.
That’s quite the résumé, Maria! Way to go!
5. Her Son, Jaxon, Is Stealing the Show at Wimbledon
On July 8, 2025, Amanda Anisimova defeated Anastasia Pavlyuchekova in the Quarterfinals of the Wimbledon Championships.
After her big victory, she was joined on the court by a little boy that immediately stole the hearts of tennis fans all over the world.
That little boy was Jaxon Egee, Maria’s son and Amanda’s nephew.
If Maria wins the Wimbledon Final on Saturday July 12, 2025, her and her whole family could be in for another moment in the spotlight as they celebrate her massive victory.
