Conor McGregor seems to never manage to keep himself out of the news for long, especially not in the era of the internet.
McGregor is currently serving an 18-month suspension for anti-doping missed tests, which will allow him to fight by the end of March, 2026.
After declaring his intent to fight on the UFC White House card next June, it seems like the current Bare Knuckle FC co-owner and promoter – speaking at one of the events on Thursday, has undergone a big personal change recently.
Conor McGregor Has ‘Healed’ On ‘Spiritual Journey’
Having long been – if actions would seem to speak anything close to volumes – a man somewhat far away from the almighty, McGregor said that he had undergone a spiritual shift and is now “healed”.
“I am not here by chance, there is a higher power – God – that dictates my journey and all of our journeys.” McGregor said. “And I live my life by God’s word… I’ve engaged on a spiritual journey, and I’m saved, I am healed.”
Through this, McGregor claims, has come his renewed passion and “competitive spark” for fighting.
“On the back of that, the world is in for a treat. My competitive spark that was once in my heart is now a roaring blaze. So I’m very excited – I envy these men up here. They are right about to make weight…and do what they were called to do. As am I called to do it. I am eager to get back and right now I had to dial myself in and go inward – and that I’ve done. I’m very excited to come back my own self.”
McGregor’s Words Echoed By BKFC Co-Owner
Some may rightly express some skepticism over McGregor’s new mental shift, especially given the outlandish, brash way he has conducted himself over the past decade and more since arriving in the UFC – although that much of that behaviour was what drove fans to his side and made him the ultra-famous, iconic figure he remains to this day.
But Bare Knuckle founder and fellow owner, David Feldman, added onto McGregor’s sentiments and praised the work the former UFC double champion has done in re-shaping his life.
“A lot of people in the world need to make changes in their life,” Feldman said at the BKFC press conference on Thursday, “and they don’t…I just want to take this take this time to take my hat off and commend Conor McGregor for making the kind of changes he had to make. It’s not easy, and you’re going to see the best Conor McGregor you’ve ever seen when he returns to the octagon.”
Feldman is obviously a business partner and confidant of the Irishman, so it tracks that he would reinforce McGregor’s statements noting his improvement and newfound spirituality.
At the same time, all of this likely points to the fact that McGregor has put in some time to do some work on himself. And if it sticks, then he could come out fighting hard when/if he ultimately comes back to fight in the UFC.
