Wives and girlfriends have become a major talking point in professional sports. At times, it almost feels like long-term relationships have become the exception rather than the rule.

But Formula 1 star George Russell and his girlfriend Carmen Montero Mundt continue to prove the world wrong — again and again.

They support each other through every challenge life throws their way, proudly and openly showing their love, and they’ve been doing so since 2020.

Here’s everything you need to know about Carmen Montero Mundt.

1. George Russell and Carmen Montero Mundt Started Dating in 2020

George Russell is still chasing his first Formula 1 World Championship title with Mercedes. But his greatest victory may have already come away from the racetrack. The Brit first met his longtime girlfriend Carmen Montero Mundt in 2020 — and it happened almost by chance, through a mutual friend.

And their love still feels as fresh as day one. The 25-year-old regularly supports Russell — whether in the heat of race weekends or far away from the spotlight — always standing firmly by his side.

“Five years with the most wonderful person I could ever ask for,” Mundt wrote on Instagram in honor of their anniversary in February 2025.

2. Carmen Montero Mundt Was Born in Spain

Born on February 12, 1998, in Spain, Carmen Montero Mundt brings both international flair and sharp ambition to the Formula 1 paddock. Raised in Jerez, deep in Spain’s southern Andalusian heartland, she took a bold step early on — leaving home behind to chase her academic goals in the United Kingdom.

London became her next arena, where she studied at the University of Westminster and earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Finance, according to her LinkedIn profile. It was during this decisive chapter of her life that fate intervened: in 2020, she met Formula 1 driver George Russell — a meeting that would change both of their lives.

After completing her degree the following year, Mundt shifted gears into the world of financial management, building her own professional career while supporting one of motorsport’s brightest stars on his journey to the top.

3. A Power Couple Shining Beyond the Track

Carmen Montero Mundt and George Russell are regularly seen at high-profile events worldwide, proving their relationship extends far beyond the Formula 1 paddock. From glamorous award nights to exclusive sporting and fashion events, the pair consistently appears confident, stylish, and perfectly in sync.

Away from race weekends, they enjoy stepping into the spotlight together. In September 2021, the couple attended the premiere of the James Bond movie No Time to Die at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall — one of their first major public appearances as a couple.

They have since been spotted at some of sport’s biggest stages, including the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters in Monaco and the legendary Wimbledon Championships, underlining their status as one of motorsport’s most recognizable power couples.

4. They Support Each Other

Mundt’s support for her racing star is obvious time and again. But Russell proves he’s just as steadfast, standing by the young Spaniard in tough times.

Recently, she had to undergo an emergency operation after 12 hours of severe illness.

She later shared a photo of herself smiling in a hospital bed, with Mercedes star George Russell by her side, giving fans an update. Mundt captioned it: “It was appendicitis! Surgery went well and recovering in the best company.”

5. Carmen Montero Mundt Works in Investor Relations

She’s not just “the girlfriend of…” — Carmen Montero Mundt is building her own impressive career. According to her LinkedIn profile, she worked as an Investor Relations Associate at Ruffer LLP in London from June 2022 to October 2023, following a front-office internship at the firm between September and December 2021.

Before that, Mundt held the role of Associate Consultant at Delta Capita for three months, from January to March 2022.

After 2023, her LinkedIn profile doesn’t list further professional roles. However, in 2024 she published the e-book “My Investing Journey and Learning”, offering guidance — especially to women — on financial independence and self-determination.
