Mets Owner Issues Strong Statement

GettyOwner Steve Cohen of the New York Mets talks with members of the media prior to a game between the New York Mets and Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium on August 02, 2023 in Kansas City, Missouri.
After the game, owner Steve Cohen sent out a post (via X).
He wrote: “Nobody likes to lose but I saw some “ green shoots tonight “. On offense, Lindor had two hits including a home run. Bichette got a double hitting it to left field as opposed to recently being right field prone. Benge got a solid hit. Soto started his running progression today. Semien hit a shot that might have been a home run on a warmer night. Finally, Nolan McLean pitched an outstanding game going 7 innings. Hang in there fans, we will turn this around !”
MLB Social Media Reacts To Cohen’s Post
Many people responded to Cohen’s post on social media:
@Bamma22: “Sorry Steve, love your optimism, very evident this team doesn’t have the lineup depth to compete for a playoff spot. It’s not second guessing, it’s obvious and staring us in the face. You are just too close to see it. This team was assembled poorly and there’s no denying it.”
@WardyNYM: “Steve Cohen is preaching for Mets fans to stay optimistic It is early and there’s alot of time no doubt But I think it’s justified for every single fan to be disheartened by a club that has the 5th most losses in baseball since mid June 2025 I hope this changes, and fast”
@Topbunksports: “Welp… You all wanted him to tweet while we were losing, there you go.”
