Experience

Heavy's sports editor Chris Licata brings more than 10 years of experience in the sports industry. He was named the site's first NFL editor in 2021 where he led record-setting football viewership for two years.

Prior to joining Heavy in 2019 as an NFL contributor, his background focused heavily on communications, helping drive coverage for DISH Network's award-winning live-TV streaming service, Sling TV.

Chris also supported NFL media relations efforts during three consecutive Super Bowl runs from 2016 to 2019. As lead communications intern for the Los Angeles Rams — named the NFL's most excellent PR staff in 2019 — he contributed to the team's weekly game releases, annual media guide, national interviews and media credentials.

He earned a multi-season internship with the New England Patriots between 2016 and 2018 after spending three seasons with the Gillette Stadium ticket office.

When he wasn't transcribing Tom Brady or Bill Belichick's weekly press conferences, Chris streamlined the Patriots' fan mail operation and led external communications and social media for The Kraft Group's Overwatch League team, the Boston Uprising, during its inaugural season in 2017.

A Rhode Island native, Chris started his sports career in high school and college, parking cars at Pawtucket Red Sox games.

Education

Chris Licata holds a bachelor's degree in Sports, Entertainment, Event Management from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island, where he graduated in 2016.
