Jay Bennett is an associate editor at Heavy Sports. Jay is based in Phoenix and has a three-decade career in journalism, working for daily and weekly newspapers and digital publishers.
He has worked for Axios, the Arizona Republic, the alt-weekly Phoenix New Times, the Daily Herald in suburban Chicago, the Grand Rapids Press and the Richmond (Ind.) Palladium-Item. He also launched an alternative newsweekly called the Paper., which existed for four years.
Jay taught Introduction to Editing and Advanced Editing for six years at Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
Education
Jay graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington with a degree in journalism and worked several years for the Indiana Daily Student as a reporter and editor.
