Experience
Jonah Kubicek is an NBA writer for Heavy, and has been writing about the NBA since 2021, primarily covering the San Antonio Spurs. As a lifelong Spurs fan living in Michigan, he never misses an opportunity to bring up the 2005 NBA Finals (you should have guarded Horry!). He is a long-suffering Tigers fan and closely follows the NFL, although he never found an affinity for the Lions.
He got his start as an editor for FanSided’s NBA group and has also written and edited for The Sporting News, GiveMeSport, Sports Illustrated, NBA Analysis, and Athlon. He has traveled with the Spurs as a member of the press and interviewed top draft prospects, and his mock drafts have been featured on Basketball Intelligence.
When he isn't watching basketball, he is often reading, gardening, or cooking, with various degrees of success.

Education
Jonah attended Oakland University, mostly during the COVID-19 pandemic, and graduated in 2023 with a degree in history, which suits his writing talents. While in school, he led writing workshops where he taught students how to engage with a vast variety of audiences.
As an Oakland alum, Jonah has a soft spot for Greg Kampe and mid-major programs, and fondly remembers the bygone eras of Keith Benson, Kay Felder, Kendrick Nunn, and Jack Gohlke.
