Michael Obermuller

Experience

Michael Obermuller is an Associate Editor who also covers the NFL as a sports journalist for Heavy.com, where he began writing in May 2021. He currently helps run Heavy's breaking news operation and newsletter team, while also reporting on the Kansas City Chiefs, New York Giants, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Additionally, Michael has spent two-plus seasons reporting on the New York Jets for Heavy on a daily basis and has been with Heavy on Chiefs since October of 2021, and Heavy on Giants and Heavy on Steelers since 2023. While also assisting the Heavy on Buccaneers page starting at the beginning of 2025.

He is an NYC area native and Quinnipiac graduate who has previously covered the MLB for Athlon Sports, NFL, MLB and betting content for FanDuel's The Duel, as well as fantasy football for King Fantasy Sports and NFL and MLB news for Pro Football Mania.

Education

Michael Obermuller holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Media Studies from Quinnipiac University, where he graduated in 2015.

He also completed an English Minor (writing track) during his time at Quinnipiac, and has passed through the International Baccalaureate (IB) testing programs for English and History.
