The Rangers released Veneziano on Friday. Veneziano was signed to a minor-league contract in December, but he's asked for and been granted his release in order to pursue a playing opportunity in Asia. The lefty held a 4.68 ERA, a 1.56 WHIP and 25:11 K:BB across 25 innings between the Marlins and Cardinals in 2025.

Gets NRI deal with Rangers
The Rangers signed Veneziano to a minor-league contract Thursday that includes an invitation to spring training. Veneziano made 26 appearances in the majors in 2025 between the Marlins and Cardinals, holding a 4.68 ERA, a 1.56 WHIP and 25:11 K:BB across 25 innings. The lefty will compete for a spot in the Rangers' bullpen but, in all likelihood, will begin the 2026 season at Triple-A Round Rock.
Elects free agency
Veneziano cleared waivers and elected free agency Thursday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports. Veneziano appeared in 26 big-league games this season, spanning stints with Miami and St. Louis, and he logged a 4.68 ERA, a 1.56 WHIP and a 25:11 K:BB across 25 innings. The 28-year-old will hit the open market after being designated for assignment and electing free agency.
