Aramis Garcia: Breaking News

Outrighted to Triple-A

Garcia cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Reno on Sunday. Garcia was designated for assignment by the Diamondbacks on Friday, and he will now report to Reno. The 33-year-old appeared in three contests with Arizona while serving as the No. 3 catcher with Gabriel Moreno sidelined due to an oblique injury, but he saw only three plate appearances, going 1-for-3 with a strikeout.

Removed from 40-man roster

The Diamondbacks designated Garcia for assignment Friday. He was serving as a third catcher, but with Gabriel Moreno (oblique) back from the injured list, Garcia is no longer needed. He'll likely clear waivers and stick around in the organization in a depth capacity.

Contract selected

The Diamondbacks selected Garcia's contract from Triple-A Reno on Tuesday. Garcia is taking the roster spot of the injured Gabriel Moreno (oblique). James McCann will handle the bulk of the catching duties for Arizona while Moreno is out, but the presence of Garcia will allow Adrian Del Castillo to focus mostly on designated hitter duties.
