Brendon Little: Everything you need to know

Toronto optioned Little to Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday. Little has had a disastrous start to the campaign, allowing 10 earned runs and giving up three homers while posting a 6:3 K:BB over 3.2 innings across five appearances. He was a big piece of the team's bullpen while working in a high-leverage role last season, so Little will presumably be given another chance with the big-league club if he's able to work out his issues with Buffalo. The Blue Jays selected the contracts of two relievers -- Austin Voth and Joe Mantiply -- among a series of transactions Sunday.

Little (0-1) was tagged with the loss in relief Wednesday against the Rockies. He allowed one unearned run on one hit and one walk while striking out one across one inning. Little allowed the game-deciding run in the 10th frame following an RBI single from Tyler Freeman into center field. It's been a rocky start to the season for Little, who has given up eight runs (seven earned) with a 4:3 K:BB across 2.1 innings in three appearances this season.

Little has won a spot in the Blue Jays' Opening Day bullpen, Gregor Chisholm and Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star report. The 29-year-old will head into the season as the top left-handed option for manager John Schneider. Little dazzled this spring, posting a 0.00 ERA and 11:4 K:BB in six innings, and he racked up a career-high 30 holds in 2025 while producing a 3.03 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 91:45 K:BB in 68.1 innings.
