Caleb Freeman: Everything you need to know

Freeman signed a minor-league contract with the Blue Jays on Monday. Freeman spent a brief amount of time with the White Sox last season, allowing two earned runs over 3.1 innings across five appearances in the big leagues. Most of his time was spent in the minors, however, where he posted a 4.44 ERA and 1.60 WHIP across 50.2 frames between Double-A and Triple-A. He'll report to Double-A New Hampshire to begin his tenure with the Jays and isn't likely to serve as more than organizational bullpen depth.

The White Sox outrighted Freeman to Triple-A Charlotte on Monday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. Freeman cleared waivers after being booted off the 40-man roster and will remain in the organization. The 27-year-old will provide relief depth at Charlotte.

The White Sox designated Freeman for assignment Friday. Freeman has been with Triple-A Charlotte since June 5 and owns a 2.55 ERA and a 23:16 K:BB over 24.2 innings on the season there. However, he'll yield his spot on the 40-man roster for Jake Palisch. Assuming he clears waivers, Freeman will likely remain at Triple-A.
