The Samsung Lions of the Korean Baseball Organization signed O'Loughlin on Monday, Australian baseball reporter Eric Balnar reports. O'Loughlin pitched for Team Australia in the World Baseball Classic and didn't allow an earned run across 6.1 innings. The 26-year-old left-hander appeared in four games for the Athletics during the 2024 campaign and pitched the second half of last season in the Australian Baseball League.

Jack O'Loughlin: Breaking News
Enters free agency
O'Loughlin opted out of his minor-league contract with Colorado on Wednesday, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston reports. O'Loughlin has spent all season with the Rockies' Triple-A affiliate, where he turned in a 6.91 ERA and 2.11 WHIP across 41.2 innings. Based on his poor resume, the 25-year-old's next opportunity will almost certainly be as minor-league depth.
Denied Opening Day roster spot
The Rockies reassigned O'Loughlin to minor-league camp Wednesday. O'Loughlin reached the big leagues for the first time in 2024 as a member of the Athletics, making four relief appearances while giving up five earned runs on 13 hits and five walks across 9.2 innings. After being outrighted off the Athletics' 40-man roster in September and eventually reaching free agency in November, O'Loughlin linked up with the Rockies on a minor-league deal and was given a chance to compete for an Opening Day roster spot this spring. Despite tossing scoreless innings in each of his three Cactus League appearances, O'Loughlin fell short in his bid for a bullpen gig with the Rockies and is instead expected to begin the season at Triple-A Albuquerque.
