Jonathan Robertson: Breaking News

The Orioles reassigned Robertson to minor-league camp Wednesday, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports. Robertson logged 75 plate appearances in the big leagues last season between stops with the Blue Jays and White Sox, but after being claimed off waivers by the Orioles over the winter and later outrighted off the 40-man roster, he never appeared to be a strong candidate to break camp with Baltimore. He's slated to serve as organizational outfield depth at Triple-A Norfolk in 2026.

The Orioles outrighted Robertson to Triple-A Norfolk on Friday, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports. He's no longer on the 40-man roster but will remain in the organization after passing through waivers. Robertson went just 9-for-70 with a 2:27 BB:K over 75 plate appearances between the Blue Jays and White Sox in 2025 in his first taste of the majors, but he slashed .289/.387/.571 with 20 homers at the Triple-A level this past season.

Robertson was designated for assignment by the Orioles on Sunday, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports. Robertson was claimed off waivers by Baltimore after being cut by the Pirates in early December, but he may now be looking for a new home. The move comes on the heels of the Orioles re-signing right-handed pitcher Zach Eflin (back) to a one-year deal Sunday. Robertson appeared in 27 games with the White Sox and Blue Jays in 2025, batting .129 with a double, nine RBI and two runs scored over 70 at-bats.
