Luarbert Arias: Everything you need to know

The Marlins outrighted Arias to Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports. Arias will remain in the organization after clearing waivers for the second time this season, as the Marlins had previously designated him for assignment in June. The 24-year-old righty has made seven relief appearances for Miami this season, logging an 11.32 ERA and 2.13 WHIP across 10.1 innings.

The Marlins designated Arias for assignment Friday. Arias has been designated for assignment by Miami for the second time this season. In seven appearances with the Marlins, he's surrendered 13 runs on 17 hits and five walks across 10.1 innings. He's posted a 3.93 ERA and a 1.66 WHIP in 18.1 innings with Triple-A Jacksonville. His spot on the active roster will go to Josh Simpson, while Jack Winkler takes the open spot on the 40-man roster.

The Marlins selected Arias' contract from Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday. Right-hander Lake Bachar is scheduled to serve as the Marlins' opening pitcher for Monday's game against the Nationals, but Arias could be tasked with covering multiple innings of relief with Miami lacking in fresh bullpen arms. Arias was previously up with the Marlins for much of the first month of the season, logging a 10.61 ERA and 2.14 WHIP over 9.1 innings across six appearances.
